I cant help but think they spied on alot more and somehow thought that they had to cop for us and Oxford. Im sure they did spy on Oxford btw. Its just that they weren't a massive threat compared to say millwall etc [Post edited 19 May 21:20]

No idea why Oxford. Reading around, it appears text messages were the smoking gun, which presumably left them in a position where they couldn't do anything other than confirm spying on Town.

Yeah, I very much doubt they decided to stop spying between December and April! Sure, there is just a clear paper trail on a few cases, ours must be one of them. The craziness of this is how amateur the kid looked at Boro in the open for the biggest game of the season. Ridiculous.

Yep. No way that they only spied on those 3 occasions. That would be massively implausible.

Far too long a gap, I wonder if the whispers got round the league as well. The same Lawyer that got the loophole with Leicester and Wednesday of a deduction next season was hired by Gibson. Seems to be earning his corn.

Very wise move by Steve Gibson. Take the best lawyer out of the game for Saints. Smart tactics.

My guess is that because Oxford actually won the game but still got relegated, there’s no potential argument that the spying influenced the outcome of the season. Same with admitting to spying on us - I assume they’re betting on Town not giving a s**t. Whereas if they admit to spying on any other games since Christmas then they open themselves up to being sued by the likes of Derby and Wrexham (they beat both in April) who just missed the playoffs. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

Yep, seem a it convenient doesn’t it. Imagine if it came out it was in Wrexham in that 5-1 game for example. What a mess!

| how did the spy get into our training ground? on 20:18 - May 19 by Chalk_Cheese | same, i thought especially during March & April it was very open. then as you say a new fence has now gone up but the builders compound is at the end of the ISSC gravel overflow carpark which is still only surrounded by heras panels , easily to get an observation. |
We don't train on those pitches, we generally train over the road from the main entrance. That fence covers where most youth teams train/play. As others have said, I reckon it's in Eastleigh where they have a full surveillance set up. Good riddence, That Tonda has been so smug and as for Harwood Bellis

I wonder what the app he deleted was like? It must be pretty revolutionary, especially if he wanted to protect that first than run for cover. There is a lot more to this than meets the eye. Saints have clearly admitted to matches where they have not taken three points from. I have often pondered what you could possibly pick up from 200 metres away that would give you much of an advantage. The app that was deleted is the key to all this.

They'll have done it for almost every match, I'd have thought and these are the ones they just admitted to because of the text messages. You don't just spy randomly three times.

If I was I cynic, I'd say admitting spying before the last game they played that they lost when they would have been expected to win, might have been an attempt to hoodwink the panel into thinking that they weren't gaining a massive advantage by doing it. As for our game, if there was evidence, probably best they fessed up; when you see that they ended the season with a run of 14 wins and 5 draws, which followed a run of 7 games where they drew 3 and lost 4, you'd have to question whether this became a regular part of their preparations for a fixture...
