First, there’s no guarantee they would have won promotion, second, f*** them, they were well aware of what was going on, and third, fourth and ad infinitum, f*** them, they were well aware of what was going on

Slight not really bothered question.... Were the players aware of what was going on behind the scenes? Id presume this was Manager and back office staff... Either way agreed they cannot sue for potential earnings they didnt secure. However I'd assume they could sue the club itself for damages etc. Edit: read the link first apols [Post edited 20 May 0:40]

indeed..the antics of hardwood bellend at the end of the second leg…taunting the Boro players with the crying gesture turned my stomach…

Eckert and his coaches must surely have been telling the players what to expect, "A left arm raised at the corner means near post, both arms raised means it's going short" etc. We haven't seen the end of this by a long way. Bunch of cheats, ait seems certain that the Director of Football, manager, coaches and who know maybe some players will get lengthy bans. This could set Southampton back years - a second year in the Championship whilst parachute payments ebb away and where promotion in 26/27 is looking increasingly unlikely. Remember kids, crime doesn't pay.

They must have done, just not that it was done 24 hours too late.
| Saints players considering suing club for loss of earnings on 06:42 - May 20 with 1176 views | Churchman | Amusing? I have found this hilarious. They were blathering on about Arsenal winning the PL last night. Who cares. This is the story. As others have said, Harvey-Bellend taking the muck at the end gives yesterday a whole layer of laughter. I did find the supporters with camo and binos funny, but the joke is on them now. Even funnier. The players must have known. It sounds pretty systemic going back at least to the point when Cyberman Eckert rolled into town. Southampton just sought an edge and got caught. As for the players suing, can’t see them getting far with this. I’ll be surprised if the club gets any further with its appeal too. I hope the EPL show more backbone and uphold it and the FA wade in and charge Southampton collectively and the perpetrators individually of bring the game into disrepute. The whole situation from the comfort of my sofa, promotion secured, is hilarious. | | | |

In the same way a club can sack a player because of gross misconduct. Automatic move to the Premier league with a bumper signing on fee

| Saints players considering suing club for loss of earnings on 14:39 - May 20 with 621 views | EddyJ | How far does the suing go? "The manager dropped me despite me being the team's top scorer. If he'd played me, we'd definitely have got 3 more points and got promoted. I'm suing for loss of earnings." | | | |

The only reason they are in a position to be able to get those wage hikes is because their employers were obtaining information that gave them an advantage. [Post edited 20 May 14:45]

Of course the players knew what was going on - it's no coincidence that their form changed when the new manager arrived and they went on a winning streak. Also sure it wasn't just us and Oxford who they sent spies to and the measures they went to with staff in Eastleigh tracksuits indicates they were taking spying very seriously.

No guarantee they would win the playoffs No guarantee if they did win that the club would retain them in the Premier League. Who on earth is advising the players? As you say, they haven't a leg to stand on.

Maybe the kid spying on the players is giving them legal advise too. In all seriousness 'the spy' needs to disclose the deal he was under if he was contracted to go incognito by the club or any one affiliated with the club then he was doing his told and there would be many mitigating factors to royally drop them in it. You sense there is more to dirt to unravel yet.
