We don’t need a striker that can play 90 mins though as our strikers basically never do that. Hirst did it 5 times in the league, 3 before the end of August when we were still filling the squad, and we failed to win any of the 5 games where that happened. Azon played 90 minutes precisely 0 times
West Ham don’t have any players called Fernandez however I assume you are referring to Mateus Fernandes, who is rumoured to be wanted by the likes of Arsenal & Man U for a fee exceeding £40m, so yeah think it’s safe to say he won’t be coming here |  |

I don’t think Summerville is an upgrade on Clarke or Jaden tbh, hasn’t done much at PL level. Would rather we looked elsewhere would take Wilson as a 2nd or 3rd option, but far too injury prone to be our main front man. | | | |

Bowen would be a cracking signing for our problem right wing position. We have to upgrade there, but yes he’ll be in demand. |  |

Think when previously established Premier League sides get relegated they sell their high value players to other already-established PL clubs. Very little chance that we can pick up anyone from Wolves or West Ham who is a proven top-flight performer.
In 2023-24 - the last time any multi-year resident of the PL went down - their players went to Chelsea, Newcastle, West Ham, Tottenham, Fulham, Man U, Bournemouth, Everton.
We're going to have to be more imaginative than raiding the relegated clubs. |  |

Wilson would be a great fit for us. We would obviously need a lot more around him but he’d be a great addition.
Fernandes, Bowen and Summerville will all clearly have loftier suitors than us. Sadly a lot of that West Ham team (even guys like Diouf, Todibo, Mavrapanos would be out of our league). Further evidence that recruiting offshore gives us a better chance to land some real quality. [Post edited 24 May 22:47]

He’s a good second striker option and a a realistic one. Massive upgrade and would be a hell of a sub for a promoted side.
Also if say, your other summer striker was a player form outside the UK and hadn’t played in the PL/England before so was more of an unknown, I’d be extremely comfortable with having Wilson in the squad. [Post edited 24 May 23:09]
