It wouldn't surprise me if there is someone at Eastleigh who also works for Southampton or has done previously. We have a number of academy age group coaches who also work at non-league clubs in a different capacity and I suspect that's the case with many of the lower paid coaching roles. Think there's a good chance this is 'rogue employee' with dual loyalties rather than the club as a whole trying to help them out. I would imagine this will cost them quite a bit in terms of lost usage from away clubs training there.

| Southampton standing by Eckert on 15:45 - Jun 2 by The_Flashing_Smile | If opposition clubs regularly train there it's not beyond the realms of possibility that they have an agreement set up that's been going on for years. I imagine that would be a nice little earner for a non-league club and very hard to turn down at their level. |
I see that and it’s all the more reason to punish them and get that nice little earner taken away. If Eastleigh want to gripe about it, let them complain to Southampton. Certainly if I was ITFC it’d be on the banned list.

That was the gist of the evidence which was released yesterday: "Analyst 1 called an academy analyst intern, who had worked with Eastleigh before, and he said he would go."

| Southampton standing by Eckert on 10:09 - Jun 2 by Broadbent23 | As I see it a club who stands by a cheating manager will be criticized hugely next season. And the mud will stick for years. Probably a lot of players will not want to stick with the club and are actively looking for transfers. Supporters robbed of promotion will think twice about supporting their club. As with previous clubs hit by scandals, quick decisions have to be made. Sales day coming to Southampton FC soon. |
Southampton are setting Eckert up as the fall guy. The owner also accepts responsibility while the Sporting director, as far as I know, has remained silent. Johannes Spors started off in football as an analyst. When he was General Manager at Genoa he took Eckert onboard. After he moved on to Southampton as Sporting Director he brought Eckert to the club. He would have been behind Eckert , who had no previous managerial experience , being given the managers job first on an interim basis and then permanent. I cannot imagine Eckert having the necessary authority to Authorise the cost of the spying mission to Middlesbrough with out someone more senior knowing about it. I also can’t accept no spying took place between the Oxford & Ipswich games. They played both Fulham, Arsenal & Manchester City before the Ipswich game all as important as the postponed game against Ipswich. If he didn’t know he was doing wrong to spy on opponents then you would expect it to have happened on a regular basis. Have a feeling FA will want to interview quite a few Southampton employees, hopefully they will find a whistle blower. [Post edited 2 Jun 19:34]

| Southampton standing by Eckert on 11:09 - Jun 2 by Guthrum | Plus the bit about the manager and several of the analysts being foreign so they couldn't be expected to understand the rules governing English football. In what other profession would that be acceptable? |
Hopefully not in the haulage business! Sorry officer, I was unaware the law says to drive on the left in the UK!
