Interesting, how would that payment fit into SCR too? I expect it wouldn't be counted, but it would seriously handicap them, if it was.

If Burnley really have won based on “loss of chance” then firstly lol at Everton’s legal team and secondly, blimey. Pandora’s box and all that.

In the spirit of reconciliation and happiness at the end of the Banter Era (RIP) and as a result of promotion I have cleared out my ignore list. Look forwards to reading your posts!

Given Leicester fans even admit they basically cheated their way to the title in 23-24 and finished 1 point above us, we should retrospectively be awarded the title.

I guess that's more final league position than monetary since we actually got promoted. Can anyone think of any other case we've been involved in?

as far as im aware fines cannot be offset as adjustable costs like infastrucure or womens teams etc, but id expect the 40m to be paid in installments over 4 or 5 years so i doubt it would hinder them a lot.

I'm not sure it would be included as it doesn't relate to squad costs.

So if Man City are found guilty and deducted a serious amount of points (big if), how many clubs will sue them over a 10 year period?

Could get very messy

Aside from the direct impact on the two clubs involved, then the knock on effects are enormous too. It would increase Burnley's parachute payment advantage (earlier thread re: Wolves and strength of Championship next season notwithstanding) which will in turn disadvantage other clubs. Do they get to claim from Burnley?

I recall that Sheffield United got some kind of compensation from West Ham for the Tevez issue but it was proportionately less significant.

but it affects the revenues so the % they have for squad costs will be less due to less revenue

I always think it's bizarre that football clubs can go to law like this. The Premier League has rules and followed their process for punishing Everton for breaching them. How on Earth could any club have any recourse beyond that? I could see that hypothetically you might have a case against the PL if its rules were unfair or its processes weren't applied fairly in this instance.

But how Earth is cheating at sports within the remit of the courts?

There is no position based prize money in the Championship. Different in the Premier League where it's roughly £1M per place

It plays into the hands of those that want to American'ize the sport. No promotion, no relegation etc.

It's not total revenues, only "football related revenues"

How will this impact Everton's revenue? The fact they pay Burnley doesn't reduce their revenue, just increases their expenses.
