Did you mean Manning rather than putting Rosenior twice?

I would be shocked if its not someone on that list.

Unless of course its a win for the Miguel Molina backers.

A pretty depressing list overall. Knutsen is the standout but doesn't feel possible. Viera did OK in the PL with Palace, I guess.

The list is pure speculation but there are some very underwhelming ones on there.

Has the EADT not suggested Philippe Clement as well? I would be surprised, given that list, if he wasn't in it!

Ultimately it is about the club getting the right one over the line. I suspect it will probably be someone not on that list.

A name I haven’t seen mentioned anywhere is Tommy Elphick - rejected Bristol City so clearly identified by some as a potential manager. Expected to join Iraola but still hasn’t happened yet.

Liam Rosenior thinks you’re thinking too conventionally.

Liam Rosenior applies for jobs twice to double his likelihood of success.

Agreed. Where would McKenna have been on such a list last time?

Would he have even made the top 500?

(Although, this time I expect we’ll go a tad more conventional, given the risk/reward at this level, and the perception he’d need to be more experienced / worthy.)

They're missing Bruno Genesio and (courtesy of Barca Blue) Eduardo Valverde. And the bloke from Stuttgart - Sebastian Hoeneß

Toppmoller's going to Lens apparently.

Is Anthony Barry realistic? He's at the World Cup, isn't he?

Need to get this sorted within a couple of weeks.

I seem to recall that when Iraola went to Bournemouth from Rayo Vallecano he wanted to take his assistant with him but couldn't due to work permit issues.

Wonder where he is now?

Edit to add:
And the answer to that is his name is Iñigo Pérez (someone suggested him the other day), he became Vallecano manager in February 2024, led them to the recent Europa Conference League final they lost to Palace and has just started as manager of Villareal. He replaced Marcelino García Toral who got Villareal Champions League qualification two seasons running and is out of a job for now.

He became manager of Vallecano and then just got appointed manager of Villarreal. Interestingly the guy at Villarreal before him, Marcelino Toral, quit at the end of the season, with this apparently on his mind:

Does Ashley Young have sufficient qualifications to be considered?

I don't know how much he has worked with the coaching side of things.

I am a little surprised Pert hasn't been suggested as an option too.

Not saying either of them is the best option but several clubs have tended to promote from within and do well by doing so.

Not entirely surprising is it?

But there probably ought to be some names in the frame there who we should be considering as possible.

Was interesting that Ashton has names 'that have come through' (I assume from agents), that 'you wouldn't expect'

For a bit of context, that must be in response to what we were paying McKenna, which was only a touch behind what Slot was being paid at Liverpool.

And neither of the two I'd favour are on the list, which is made up mostly of " never beens " and any fool could have put it together, ( even me ) :)

Bare in mind we must be deemed as a really good job. Salary potential of 5m + perks to manage a PL club cannot be sniffed at for a top level candidate.
