I figured there would be some football to watch. Perhaps lots. So far I saw half of the Mexico game and was irritated by the awful excessive refereeing. But at least it was a game. Nothing last night after I got in.
Qatar v Swizterland today ... Not really of any interest at all.
Brazil Morocco- 11pm kick off. Too late to bother with. Scotland at 2am so no chance.
Germany is playing in CST for a start! European audience has been kept well in mind for this tournament, especially the big nations. The lack of knowledge about basic time zones for a World Cup that was awarded tk the Americas is baffling.
Ah, so there are some matches in time zones that could be played to fit in with European times then. Thanks.
Sorry for not paying enough attention or caring enough about the tournament to know what time zones all the stadia are in. I assumed from your comment that they all must be in the PST zone.
For a bunch of folks that have spent a lot of time moaning about it, you don’t all half want to watch it at the perfect time!
Isn't the point in this thread that the tournament at this stage is a bit meh so we aren't bothered to go out of our way to watch it?
If England were playing in the early hours (which as you point out wouldn't be unreasonable anyway) I wouldn't bother watching them live unless it fitted in with more important aspects of my life. If England get to the semi-finals or final I might put myself out a bit for that.

If you look at the big European nations you’ll see very few kick off after midnight in the groups. Games are played through multiple time zones obviously as it’s coast to coast.
Even today on the west coast they had Switzerland early.
Brazil which is a huge market in the Americas (obviously) is 5pm EST local instead of Scotland due to certain other big US sporting events this evening!
Scheduling is done every carefully due to $$$ involved and viewing numbers across the globe.
The Broadcasters will be routing for certain teams to win their groups as they’re unable to change or flex the knockouts based on markets. Happy to answers an questions on this topic!

Yeah I’m not getting it either.
They should arrange the games to suit us in Blighty and GMT so we could watch them at a decent time.

The scheduling is certainly a bit crap. Am I right in thinking that match times were already determined before the draw (i.e. B1 V B2 at 2300hrs GMT on 13/07)?
It would have made more sense to finalise kickoff times once the matches were known. Haiti v Scotland could have been held between 1200hrs and 1500hrs local time, and still been at a decent time for both Haitian and Scottish viewers.

No that’s wrong. Scotland are not a big market, Brazil was never clashing with the NBA finals. They had the draw and figured out the games the next day.

It's the World cup. The world has different time zones. Perhaps the Euros cater more to your needs.
There should be some consideration given to how popular football is in that region, this has been the lowest key World Cup in my lifetime, followed by Qatar last time.
What is disgraceful is that the USA has hosted twice since the home of football and the biggest and most popular league in the world last hosted 60 years ago.
