Where in a ground is the best place to watch a match 07:31 - Jun 17 with 1854 viewsKeno

From a conversation with a Grandson yesterday where do you think the best place to watch a game is?

I guess from years of standing on the North Stand I always favour behind a goal, I tend you think you can watch plan develop but accept it can be difficult to see whats going on at the far end

He has a preference for being as low in a stand as possible kind of pitch level rather than high up, and around the half way line.

So what your thoughts TWTDers ...

Depends on the ground.

But if talking Portman Road if I could sit wherever I wanted it would be in the Pioneer around halfway line ish so perhaps in either the media section or the executive box if I had free rein to go wherever I wanted to.

By choice high up on the halfway line.

My current spot is upper tier in Churchmans level with the 18 yard perpendicular.
Lovely spot for a nap and to snuggle up inside a tartan blanket with a nice warm cup of cocoa. The neighbours can be a bit noisy especially those opposite but earplugs help. Might get some eyeshades for next season too!

Was having this conversation with my brother recently.

He said we're so accustomed to watching football on TV these days, that our brains now prefer to watch from the side rather than behind the goal, as that's the view we're used to getting on TV.

Can't say I disagree, plus I love my view from West Stand upper.

At PR.

Traditionally the best place for atmosphere to watch a match is behind the NS.

But for view and to see everything develop I would say around halfway up either stand at around the centre circle.

Best place to fall asleep - Churchmans.

You do realise watching a game behind the NS, your out in the street!

Usually A or B Cobbold ideally row V, but my last 2 home games last season sat in SBR Upper & loved the leg room

Prefer atmosphere of Cobbold A

I sat close to the halfway line for years until I lost my seat to the new press box. Now sit behind the goal in Upper Sir Bob.

Personally prefer the former as you get a better overall view of the game. For the same reason I prefer being in the Upper Tier.

Being behind the goal is great when you score at that end. Last season most of the goals seemed to go in at the other end!

I wish there was more atmosphere in the West Stand, but whenever I sit behind a goal I can't help but notice how much worse the view is.

I have a theory that those who moan about passing out from the back are generally in the lower tiers behind the goal, because you just can't judge depth properly

There's a reason the old D block seats were the most expensive in the ground. Ideal height and in the middle of the pitch.

I like my seat West stand middle tier front row north stand end roughly in line with the penalty spot perfecto.
