Solskjaer Remains Strong Fave 10:41 - Jun 18 with 2661 viewsMarshalls_Mullet

I'm not one to buy into bookies odds on managerial appointments, but its unlike Phil to churn out the same story tow days in a row...

....Phil - Are you dropping hints from insider knowledge?

Poll: Would Lambert have acheived better results than Cook if given the same resources

I hope its a smokescreen.
I don't think hes the right man for the job.
Happy to be proved wrong if it did turn out to be him and id get behind the guy.
Think we need something different.

If he does come I'm interested to know who he brings with him.

Obviously lots of his coaches have moved in to fulltime management so would need some new faces.

More hits = more clicks on the Audi adverts = more Hobnobs......

In all seriousness, hopefully that means we are closer to making an appointment and we can crack on with our summer business.

If it is going to be Ole why is it taking so long ?, I like him but but I'm not sure he is the right man to keep Town in the premier league.

I hope it's a distraction technique, let the real appointment continue to fall under the radar.

I trust Ashton to make the right appointment (I think?!), but I can't help but feel that OGS is the wrong call. The appointment of his backroom staff is vital, he's going to need to recruit an elite team, he's more an old school team manager than a progressive coach like KMc. His success at Man United was very much down to a staff of Mike Phelan, Mark Dempsey, Carrick, Eric Ramsey and McKenna, that's a top level team.

Nobodu knows if hes the right man hell the club doesnt like any manager appointment the can work or fail you only know by trying them, if there was a guarentee then there would be no sackings, OGS means we keep as much continuity as before, saying im not sure hes the right man but people never say who is and if they do its always someone who again would be a risk and prob be not interested in coming here. i say if hes interested give him a go we need someone and BR and O'neil are both risks and be harder to get given they are in work.

If it was OGS, you would think that they would have got it done by now. I think it will be another left field appointment.

One positive, based on what a ManU-supporting mate said, is that Solskjaer's teams there tended to be better in attack - which is an area needing attention at Town. Alsovthat defensive weakness could be attributed in large part to the players then at Old Trafford (I consider we have the basis of a better defensive outfit this time around).

Ole is the best of the names being spouted around IMO. Plays quick counter attacking football, good links / network. Good man-manager and the sort of manager players would like to play for.

Do you know for certain he doesnt know people in the game who are more than qualified to come with him, id argue his phone book is a lot bigger than some managers who you might find acceptable

I didn't suggest that he wouldn't be able to assemble a great team, just that if we are basing his suitability on his period at Manchester United, it's important to note how strong his team was and that he's going to need a similarly strong one in place here, as it seems from most accounts that he more a motivator than a tactical manager.

"However, rumours that the ex-Molde, Cardiff and Besiktas boss was at the club yesterday have been dismissed."

Given the clubs dishonesty regarding club visits, that probably means he was there.

Not sure anyone bases a manager off any past job or they shouldnt cause every job is different, different strokes for different jobs, for me id be more than happy with him, if he needs anyone im sure he will know people, and will it work who knows but that can be said whoever we get, as i believe recruitment will be more important.

I fear you're going to be bitterly disappointed at the starting 11 come August!
