| What’s with this meltdown? 21:37 - Jun 19 with 4558 views | Joey_Joe_Joe_Junior | I’m not massively excited by it but it seems to be a toys out of the prem job before a summer signing had been made, which is likely more important to our chances of survival. He kept Bournemouth up playing a pragmatic style after they started the season terribly, he then kept Wolves up the next year. McKenna has been trying to set us up to play much more pragmatically for our return. Yes the Wolves 6 months was a disaster but how can we discount the two years previously? Literally has experience keeping teams up, which is the only aim. I’m assuming everyone would take 17th if offered to them now? I get it’s not a huge name but not sure we are quite there yet. O’Neil will be backed in the market. It’s a very tough gig to walk into, he could probably do with some support. | |

| What’s with this meltdown? on 21:53 - Jun 19 with 2868 views | bsw72 | This is a little tongue in cheek but we’ve just replaced a manager who had a PL win ratio of 10.5% and 100% PL relegation record with one who has a PL win ratio of ~30% who has never been relegated and kept two reasonably unfashionable clubs in the top flight. He may not be fashionable or exciting enough for some but I think it’s a sensible choice, and it’s been done in time so there will be a normal preseason. | | | |

Yes, when you consider in our first two promotions we went up with Plymouth, Sheffield Wednesday, Leicester and Southampton it does give you a slightly different perspective. | | | | Login to get fewer ads
| What’s with this meltdown? on 22:05 - Jun 19 with 2628 views | WicklowBlue | For me would be happier with GON at the helm.... I am much more interested in the transfer activity and can we assemble a competitive squad for the next manager to work with. In short, the new manager whoever it is needs the tools to keep us in the EPL. Frankly Id trust GON more than OGS on that front. But it is all down to player recruitment as Hurst experienced at a way lower level. | | | |

| What’s with this meltdown? on 22:11 - Jun 19 with 2545 views | LeightonBuzzardBlue | I am disappointed for sure, but won't let that deter my excitement for the season ahead - as you say, signings are much more important and if Ashton was telling the truth in his interview earlier than we should be expecting a fair few arrivals before the end of the month | | | |

Shame we never got to see Mckenna with that but we move.

Obviously I hope he surpasses all expectations! Have said for ages Thomas Frank would be my preferred choice, but if that's not possible then so be it. At least it's been done early enough that he can take charge of preseason etc

Pretty sure O'Neil walked into a newly promoted team when they were in a right mess after Liverpool beat them 9-0 and kept them up comfortably. So, he done that with a team where Parker was in charge that entire summer. Comments?

He will be gone before the end of the season if he doesn’t prove the doubters wrong. Don’t think they will be as forgiving as they were with McKenna last time in the premier league.
| What’s with this meltdown? on 22:30 - Jun 19 with 2299 views | SouthfieldsBlue | Honest answer is that he is a very bad manager and feels like the laziest choice possible. His underlying data in the Bournemouth had them as consistently the worst team in the league, they just had a purple patch right at the end of the season where they basically fluked their way to 5 wins in 7 keeping them up. At Wolves he just had to outperform what at the time where statistically the 3 worst promoted teams in history to stay up, and once again the underlying data was poor. Then came 24/25 where he was an active disaster, and Vito replaced him and turned Wolves into one of the best sides in the league for half a season. He then only matched Roseniors record at Strausborg, and given Roseniors recent Chelsea spell doesn't act as a good comparator. His style of football is dull and he is an ex budgie. When we were told "looking at all the markets" and then are given this, I can see why people are really annoyed. | | | |

Declaring someone a "very bad manager" after winning 5 in 7 in recent Premier League history to keep a team up seems a bit harsh to me. Guess this fanbase will be ready to turn quickly, fun.

| What’s with this meltdown? on 22:37 - Jun 19 with 2151 views | Jon_456 | Can we stop labelling his season at Wolves as keeping them up?! They had the likes of Nelson Semedo, Ait-Nouri, Joao Gomes, Lemina, Cunha & Pedro Neto ffs. And finished the exact same position they had the season before. | | | |

That's valid but Bournemouth were a newly promoted side at least and he walked in there just after the season had started and they were getting battered under Parker.

| What’s with this meltdown? on 22:44 - Jun 19 with 2033 views | grow_our_own | Always been impressed with GON's analysis on Sky Sports. Hopefully he'll bring some good signing ideas from French football. Within English football, he got a reputation for losing the dressing room at Wolves, which might affect his ability to attract domestic talent. Is he a good man manager? Right now, still gutted KM chose to leave, and don't think he would've if we had better leadership at the club. Like any new manager this summer, this will be significantly GON's team from day 1, so he'll be highly motivated. He'll have my full support come the new season. Ashton, not so much.
