KM has a change of heart and resumes his role at ITFC.

How would that go down with the fans I wonder?

I shall probably be controversial here, but I’d prefer he and we moved on now. I just don’t think it would work. I’m guessing but I’d have thought to do a job like that well you’d have to be 100% committed. Just like any job really.

If he’s no good was to return (hypothetically), I’d never see him in quite the same light.

McKenna has his own ambitions and probable plans and has moved on. I wish him well. So should we. Managers, CEOs, staff come and go. What’s left is the supporters, infrastructure, where the club is and in ITFCs case sits in the community.

It’s just my view and driven by it being in my nature to be black and white on things like this.

Ignore the bike! Are you more likely to tug-off to Yamaha than Honda?

Fully agree, we all need to be looking forward now. Had a great few years but now on to the new challenge.

Mixed I suspect.

Personally, it’s time to move on, KM has decided to take a break. The more interesting thing now is when he returns to management. Wouldn’t be surprised if it’s sooner rather than later.

I actually got to the point this summer where I was totally at peace with him leaving had he gone to Fulham.

Two years ago he was our trump card, the only thing that really allowed us to compete with the other 19 teams.

This time that is not the case.

I'm really excited to watch another style of Football, to see new players come to the fore and for this next chapter of Ipswich Town.

For me, there would remain the concern that he had come back despite the burn-out and exhaustion which prompted the decision to leave in the first place.

That kind of thing does not simply go away in two or three weeks. So he'd be re-starting already beyond, or on the edge of, his physical and mental limits. Which is likely to affect his capabilities and judgement during a very intense and stressful campaign, when the stress could ramp up very quickly. Fans are not always known for their sympathetic approach when a manager is struggling.

It would not be good for either him or us if McKenna has a breakdown or collapse, actually making himself ill, part-way through the season. When he'd need to be replaced on a much shorter and more urgent timescale, with probably a smaller pool of candidates willing to take on a team in trouble.

Good Lord! Whatever is it?

He's done us a favour. Emptied the bank and we'd have an exhausted manager who couldn't give 100% and he'd be straight into a relegation battle ( where he's not that great historically). And we'd be watching a Town legend disintegrate in front of us and his legacy soured. Don't want to see someone I'm very fond of suffering.

He's earnt the chance of a stable, mid-table PL club in the future. That's not us. Can see him doing a good, steady job somewhere else but not in a relegation battle.
