Well i hope we don't play Ghana ever again. 23:02 - Jun 23 with 2370 viewsScuzzer

Anti football. Kick shove, all the dark arts.
Not helped by a complete twonk of a ref.

Ghana were awful. Like the dark league one days. But the ref let england off big time with a couple of calls there.

I think that is sour grapes. They defended well. We didnt move them around enough. Didnt have movement in the middle. Didnt run. And were lucky not to concede a pen.

They were superb. Got what they came for. If it’s ever coming home we’ll need some creativity and much better corners and free kicks.

Shut up! Haha

What do you want them to do. Be like Croatia and be so open and lose the game.

They had a plan and stuck with it. England barely had many decent chances.

England players were falling all over the place too.

Can we please not use this silly "coming home" phrase?

The song was about the tournament being in England. Not about a trophy "coming home". The misinterpration comes across as massive arrogance to Europeans- which I thought was completely misplaced. But it seems 90% of English people actually think that's what its about. So they are right!

We won’t need better creativity because no team in the latter stages will play like Ghana did tonight. We’ll score goals against the better teams.

Winning the tournament will depend on our ability without the ball.

Ghana were fantastic, they set out what they had to do and England just clueless on how to break them down.

Round of 16 or Quarters at best for this Tuchel England side.

seriously ? think of all the anti football teams we played in the league last season, Ghana were nothing like that.

I thought they played well, they had a game plan, they defended in numbers well, broke out when the game was stretched, Englands players sort of defaulted to type and then fluffed things up when the ball did fall in the right areas.

and if the ref was such a twonk, how the hell did Pickfords challenge, which arguably becomes a red card because theres no intent to play/get the ball there, end up as an England free kick ?

Pickford got off extremely lightly in my opinion!
Of course they'll play the dark arts - something we need to learn for next season to help us stay up

I think the ref did well. Only one team wanted to play football. Ref was frustrated that Ghana were fouling so much, sure he is not used to that. The pen and Pickford decisions went for us and I'm not surprised.

Just like playing Leicester at Portman Road. I don't give credit to Ghana at all. Not good news for the World Cup if they qualify for next stage.

How does VAR not give the Konsa one? Pen. And only not red if it was a genuine attempt. Which it wasnt?

Not sure how sticking 11 players behind the ball, and falling over at the slightest touch is fantastic.

The only Muff in Town.

You'd expect a little more from a side littered with premier league/recent Premier league players but at that level and with their excellent fitness if that's how they decide to play it then it's difficult.
Pleased to get out of that game without serious injuries tbh

We had higher Xg and 2 big chances to their one, they had one shot on target to our 3. So England

Certainly didn't get to ball but neither did the striker. Wickford lucky with the other one really because the Ghana player went in studs up which probably caught the refs eye.

Thought the ref was poor for both sides, easily convinced into freekicks for the slightest touch and players on both sides falling over and feigning injury far too much. One of the big annoyances of the modern game though sadly.
Ghana did what should have been well expected and it was a tough watch, but I was disappointed in particular in Gordon, Madueke, and Bellingham who were a bit too predictable, in my humble opinion. Kane was feeding off scraps.

Which tells you just how bad England were, and my god they were. Spent 90% of the time playing straight into Ghana's hands. If you have a team playing with a packed defence ( I'm not using the LB words ), the last thing you want to do is play in front of them, going side to side, side and back etc, at the pace of a snail on Mogadon. Very few runners getting ahead of Kane and wide men who won't try and beat their defenders on the outside and keep cutting in to an already packed area. Expect the same from Panama. Maybe we might actually have learned something from it this time. It's happened enough times before. I do partially agree about the ref, not the best I've seen, but England made their own problems.

There’s different ways to skin a cat.

I thought they were fantastic defensively, you have to give them credit for that side of the game.

Yep defended well, but first half especially they were completely devoid of any ambitions of attacking.

They know 4 points will likely be enough to get out the group. Any disdain or ire should be directed at Gordon, Bellingham etc. who were mostly awful.
