We had higher Xg and 2 big chances to their one, they had one shot on target to our 3. So England

Shut up about xg, that stat is pointless.

G is what matters.

Pickford got off extremely lightly in my opinion!
Of course they'll play the dark arts - something we need to learn for next season to help us stay up

Just watched it again, player lost control of ball and clatters Pickford so think ref right there. Konsa seems to have got away with one though.

Not sure how sticking 11 players behind the ball, and falling over at the slightest touch is fantastic.

England to me were diving all over the place, gave away a stonewall penalty, and probably should have had Pickford sent off .

Ghana were superb in defence, and if they were awarded the penalty they could have won it.

England won't face another side like that in this tournament but we can all see how ponderous they are going forward, 20 minutes against an ancient Croatia side can't disguise that.

Ghana were awful. Like the dark league one days. But the ref let england off big time with a couple of calls there.

Well I don't suppose that should be a surprise given that we played against at least one of their players in League One in 2019 (and lost), and of course two of their number are destined for that league next year unless they move clubs

The Konsa one is interesting, it's a bit like in F1 where a driver is considered to have the right to hold their line if they make the apex first, even if it then means they force the other car off the road. The Ghana striker took a bit of a dodgy touch and left it too close to Konsa, who challenged while the Ghana player (Prince I think?) was moving parallel to him, with the attempt to hook around and clear the ball, Prince then jumped across Konsa's path to the ball, so it looks like a clumsy challenge, but Konsa's foot was ahead and was going to get to the ball if not for the contact, so I think the ref probably got it right.

The big problem was we got caught up playing in front of them which never ends well. Width was lacking and the speed of pass was too slow. In fairness I thought Ghana played really well. and defended in a very well organised fashion. I thought the subs were played too late and we couldn't come up with another plan to break them down. I thought the ref was naive and poor in places to the detriment of both sides.

Wow. Konsa literally lunges across the strikers knees getting nowhere near that ball

It was a hard watch, and deflating after the fun of the Croatia game.

How we do in this tournament won't depend on our ability to beat the low block though, knockout games will be totally different (except possibly the last 32).

I still don't think we will win it - last 8 most likely - but Tuchel has chosen a team to play a certain style (pace rather than guile either side of Kane) that should be better suited to a more even game.

You have just replied with a post akin to a pre pubescent yourself.

Was asked who had the better chances and that was the reply, thought I would add some detail rather than replying with the correct answer of England

Did the xg take into account a stonewall pen? Thats an XG of about .85 alone I would think?
