Is anyone else concerned that a poor start will see little in the way of charity from fans for this man, given his history and the way in which McKenna was always supported through thick and thin? I can imagine disquiet at boardroom level by xmas if we find ourselves rooted to the foot of the table and positivity from the fans has dwained.

Where exactly does the role of 'charisma' fit in with a football manager? A quality that is required by a pop princess but not football managers...speaks a lot about the pervasiveness of the celebrity culture that we willingly bow our knee to.

….has any less “charisma” than KM.
KM was hardly an effervescent character, I suspect your view may be clouded by his success.
Obviously GON doesn’t have any credit in the bank, so a poor start will inevitably lead to some fans getting on his back. Personally I’ll be comparing what he does to how KM got on during his Premier League season, it will be the only way to remain sane.
Also, I’ve got no idea what “dwained” means.
Perhaps he has a typing impediment.

Well Carlo Ancelloti isn't known for his non stop joke cracking, but he's not had a bad career. I couldn't care less if Gary comes across as a wet fish ( which he most certainly doesn't) if he keeps us afloat in the PL this coming season. If lack of charisma is all someone has to dig him out for, maybe they should keep quiet instead. Let's all wait and see. In the meantime I'll leave you with a latest result.
Keeping up teams in the PL.

Carlo was also a world class player which commands respect too - albeit it didn’t our Roy any good…
I would have GON as 2/2 no?
He left wolves before they went down I thought?

If you are no good at the job any ‘world class player’ respect will be down the pan in no time. See Bobby Moore and the vast majority of great players who were hopeless at management - including our very own Jackie Milburn.
O’Neil can have the charisma of a paving slab for all I care. Is he any good is all that counts. As it goes, I never got the feeling that McKenna had any charisma whatsoever, but boy did he command respect and that’s crucial.

You don't garner respect without charisma. You're confusing being loud like Ashton with charisma.

Is there any other job that before you've even started your work there is speculation as to how you might react to a hyperthetical situations 4 months in the future? Just give him a chance to do the job. If it is all going pear shaped at Christmas then the club will have to make decisions. That's the nature of the beast. But surely we should be optimistic for the season until proved otherwise. What's the point in getting promotion then spending the pre season ruminating on potential negatives of our manager of players. It's a bit weird, to be honest.

The real reasons for McKenna's departure may never see the light of day, but fans have every right to be concerned in my opinion. He walked away from a struggling Wolves and then from Strasbourg after less than 6 months in charge. It feels like he is overly eager to prove somebody wrong, rather than being considered and clear in his thinking. Hope I'm wrong but this could get very messy, very quickly.

Give it a rest ffs mate.
The EFL fixtures came out this week and you have WBA to look forward to at home first day.
Suggest you focus on that.

Don’t disagree but I think a world class playing career probably means people are listening from the off.
Whereas the McKennas, Potters and Roseniors of this world maybe aren’t afforded that luxury by top players. Wrongly imo but never the less that’s how the world works.
