Surely it's not that bad It's still freakishly hot here but we have been promised temperatures of about 15c overnight which will feel cool compared to every other night this week.

Knew it can happen at the beach (Glass in the sand) but in yer back garden ffs

Whenever people moan in the winter about it being cold and say 'oh I can't wait for June, leaving the house in a t-shirt at 10pm'. Nah, stick it. Give me the cold, I'll put a coat on. I've struggled to exercise this week as well which isn't helping. I normally run 25 miles a week and I've not been out for days. Not good for my head.

On another note, a friend from Bristol is heading to Suffolk this weekend - any recommendations for a place to swim that aren't Aldeburgh or Thorpeness? Thanks

I've been in the Orwell this morning and for a second I thought I saw Drew Barrymore just beneath me, but it was just a mermaid.

Felixstowe | |
| We have no village green, or a shop.
It's very, very quiet.
I can walk to the pub. |

I prefer the cold too, especially in the autumn time.

I like Knettishall Heath, if they're up for 45 minutes drive. Its nice there, very chill, reminds me a bit of the New Forest with the wild horses. Great for a walk in cooler weather and has a natural pool. Its not the biggest, so not great for proper swimming. Nice spot to cool down in though, I take my kids up there a lot. Closer to Ipswich there's always Flatford Mill - Dedham area, swimming in the Stour is popular. Seems to have been a crazy increase in paddle boarders there in recent years though. Alternatively, the sea. Obviously.

| Dear East Anglia on 12:52 - Jun 26 with 1798 views | stonojnr | East Anglia is the sunniest part of the country i believe, most sunshine hours And im sure used to qualify technically as a desert due to the low rainfall, bearing in mind this is what a geography teacher over 40 years ago told us so probably completely wrong and we are merely semi arid instead So heatwave, what heatwave ? | | | |
| Dear East Anglia on 13:03 - Jun 26 with 1735 views | wischip | Just read Suffolk is the hottest area in UK at midday. Peaking at Cavendish, 35.8 C Good luck, everyone out there. | | | |

Not sure if my android phone's weather app is playing up but it currently says 40°c in Ipswich. FORTY. if that is accurate that is insane.

The data seems to vary a bit from BBC to Met Office to others but the centre of it looks like the area between Thetford & Ipswich and anywhere from 35-40. Yikes! [Post edited 26 Jun 13:18]

Average annual rainfall has been 23". Technically does qualify as a desert.
