| McKenna / Fulham 20:39 - Jun 28 with 2617 views | victorysquad | Is it me, or does it seem odd that Fulham have still not appointed their manager yet, when they announced at 17:40 they would not pay the £8m, and at 18:00 McKenna announced he was stepping down? | |

| McKenna / Fulham on 00:19 - Jun 29 with 1428 views | Nthsuffolkblue | Have you got a link for where Fulham "announced at 17:40 they would not pay the £8m"? And linking it to them still not appointing a new manager I presume you think they will wait a year until the clause has run out and then appoint McKenna having gone a whole season without a manager. Or is it just possible it takes a little while to appoint a new manager, especially when many potential candidates are busy managing international sides at a World Cup? | |

I had briefly crossed my mind that Fulham were waiting until June 30th/July 1st, when any compensation due would decrease as another year went by on his contract. Just like City are doing with Chelsea and taking so long to appoint Maresca.

The Chelsea /Maresca delay is nothing to do with a contractual release clause payment, but rather the two clubs arguing over whether or not an illegal approach was made to Maresca last December whilst he was still Chelsea manager. They are effectively negotiating an out-of-court settlement to avoid a time consuming and costly legal action. Nothing to do with a release clause or linked to the end of the financial year. In addition, regarding McKenna, there is no indication that the compensation payment due would be materially lower on July 1st vs June 30th. To the OP, he’s taking a break. There is no conspiracy, and Fulham never ‘announced’ they wouldn’t pay the £8M release clause. That, and any link at all with Fulham, were media driven.
