There's the minor issue of Brazil first for Norway . Wouldn't surprise me for it to be a Mexico v Brazil quarter final.

If they claim to be a DR then they should be made to play the game in white coats with stethoscopes around their necks and carrying leather medical bags...

I think that Norway celebration is one of the best I’ve seen, but it does conjure up a question. How long has to pass before a team and fans can celebrate a military victory? I can’t see it going down too well if England players and fans started doing the dambusters.

I don't know, but that doesn't answer the question. I mean, Rule Britannia still gets sung with gusto and that seems far more a celebration of military victories than pretending to row a boat.

Because you're deliberately comparing apples with oranges. Which military victory are Norwegian fans celebrating?

Amount of negative England fans amazes me. Its Mexico not Argentina, their striker now plays in the Championship ffs. Think we would comfortably have enough to beat them, also with the atmosphere would imagine they would attack us which helps.

....all desperately choreographed, "look at me" schtick.

One of the worst things about modern football are football fans that want to relentlessly make the game about them.

I expect FIFA will start giving awards to the fans soon and it will probably become as publicised as winning the actual tournament.

Just go to the match, support your team and sod off home afterwards.

Mammy Joy of South Africa must have spent the whole of their last game staring at a camera as every time they came to her, she was staring at it. Or maybe they even queued her in? Either way, know what you mean. 'The pretty girl' cutaway seems to have got competitive too!

Ah, so you downvote someone because you don’t know what the Vikings did. A hundred years of invasions to the UK, France, Ireland with barbarous attacks killing all the men and boys, raping all the women and girls, destroying the entire culture of whole communities. Amazed I have to spell it out, but there you are.

So pretending to row a boat is celebrating rape, murder and pillage, which happened over 1000 years ago? I think you're overthinking this.

War is war. As I said in my light hearted original post, the only question is how much time has to pass before it’s acceptable to celebrate it. Maybe in 1000 years doing the dambusters will be acceptable.

Can't remember who it was but a team got a pen the other day and the camera showed a section of the crowd where almost all of them were standing up filming it on their phones.

What is the point?

Oh and, this won't make me popular, but ban vlogging in grounds.

Probably the general trampling all over Northern Europe, settling in parts of it (e.g. Normans, the Danelaw), stealing anything of value, murdering, enslaving and trading plenty of peoples.

The largest Viking invasion on Britain was when Ivar the Boneless and Halfdan’s mob invaded Wast Anglia in the 860s.

Well actually yes, it is. The imitation helmets they wear (the original ones never had horns btw - that’d have been insane) are not celebrating 9th century fashion accessories.

The Norwegians (as could the Swedes and especially Danes) are celebrating their past with a bit of fun. Nothing wrong with that at all.

Nor would there be any thing wrong with the Dambusters tune - at least the aim was to end a war we never started unlike the idea of celebrating rape, pillage, slavery and settlement.

Perhaps we should try a few sea shanties to celebrate Nelson’s Navy smashing the French and the Spanish to free Europe from Napoleon’s tyranny.

It’s all a bit of fun.
