Superblues Membership 15:09 - Jul 13 with 2277 viewsswede

I got my membership renewal email today and have signed up again. The email states the cost is £40.99 but when you go to pay there is an additional postage cost of £4.00 added.

What are they posting? I know last year we got a pretty useless plastic cup and a keyring, but I cannot see any information this year as to what is in the "membership pack" that is being posted. You don't even get a membership card these days as they send you a digital one.
Any ideas?

I thought the cup last year was really good. Use it most days and keeps my morning coffee hot on the way to work.

Anyway, this year is

Scarf, Pin Badge and a "Multi-lead charging cable"

From the club website:

All members will receive an official ITFC membership gift pack, with delivery expected in October.

Super Blues

Premium Scarf
Pin badge
Multi-lead charging cable

International Blues
PU Leather Luggage Tag
Pin badge
Multi-lead charging cable
We appreciate some fans have asked to have the option to have memberships without a gift pack. This is something the club is looking at with our suppliers but is not an option we can offer for this season. We will continue to see its feasibility for future memberships.

Thank you!

I am obviously being a bit dim not being able to see the information. A "multi-lead charging cable" seems a bit random. Another item for my cable "just in case" drawer!

My plastic cup is still in it's round tub on a shelf in my home office.

I kind of see the gift pack as a perk, in not getting the membership for it.

I used to pay for Town TV, and the membership not includes that and is cheaper.
On top there are extra benefits, away points, gift pack etc.

You got a plastic cup? The one I got was a thermal travel mug. As I said, works really well.

"You got a plastic cup? The one I got was a thermal travel mug"

Yes, I did get the same! I have just opened the box for the first time in a year and looked at it. I can see that it is useful for some and I probably would have used it before retiring. Sadly my "travel" these days is pretty limited and I use an ordinary mug for my coffee at home.

Thank you for answering my question. Rather than going to the website, I just clicked on the email link to renew and could not see the information. Interesting to read on the website that they are considering looking at membership without the "free" gifts.

Why do they think people want this stuff? Presumably we all have the charging lead we need, a scarf already if we want one and.......I can't remember what the other plastic tat heading our way is. A Reform key ring?

I would rather not have the merchandise.

I'll go to the club shop if I want a mug, scarf, badge etc. I would choose a scarf that is to my taste, individual and varied. Otherwise I'd feel like I was a Nodge fan with one of those ridiculous identikit Colmans scarves.

No, I don't think so. The email does not mention a time limit. I imagine you can buy it at anytime.

I use the cup on a daily basis, its a really good one, the round tub I use somewhere to keep all my pens and pencils in my office

Yeah, I’ve used the cup more times than I could possibly remember and also keep pens in the tub. I find it odd to moan about being given something for membership, other than just the give away points.

I think it would have been better for the club to say that membership is £44.99 and you get a free scarf, badge and multi-use cable. However, they have chosen to state in the email that it is £40.99 but no-one can pay that amount. You have to pay £44.99
OK, it is only another £4, but I would rather pay the advertised amount than pay extra for items that are of no use to me. I will get a "premium scarf", but will still use my faithful old one that I have used for years. I have numerous pin badges and a drawer full of unused cables.
I find it an odd and not fully transparent piece of marketing.

Obviously they are never going to give figures, but I wonder how many binned it last year because they didn't want Championship football and therefore cannot enter the ballots this year?

As many of the above have said, the items with the membership were pretty good quality last season. I have also used the cup regularly, its certainly better quality than many cups you might pay £15-£20 for.

But, besides, you also get a season's worth of access to Town TV too, which is about a fiver a month or something isnt it?

All in all, its a very good value membership imho. And it seems many people on here agree.

There must be at least 6000 non season ticket members from last year, as you had to be a member to enter the season ticket wait list.

It's cheaper than paying for individual commentaries when you live bloody miles away and work weekends. Scarf isn't particularly appealing but last year's travel cup is brilliant.
