We got 1 nil ahead and that was our chance but poor tactics cost us. Plus they have a magician on their team that we couldn’t get close to. |
We did get close to him though, for over an hour he was totally anonymous and visibly frustrated.
We then sat back and afforded him the sort of time and space he could only dream of in an MLS game, let alone a world cup semi final.

They are known as being a first side for a reason, obviously. Although we weren’t exactly immune to the ‘dark arts’ ourselves in the first half. Looking for fouls, exaggerating contact, in the ref’s ear, in the 4th official’s ear. It was pretty ugly from both sides imo. | |

Granted last 30, bizarre tactics brought the trouble on ourselves. But the early yellow card could have made a difference as Enzo was one of the goalscorers.

I hope the best team wins, should be fascinating. Argentina did not do much different to what they always do, take it for granted. I like it that certain teams have different personalities. Old man Messi, fabulous how he measures out his energy, comes on strong when he needs to. Supreme footballer, skill, tactical awareness, the whole works (apart from penalties). Interesting, like us in the Premier 24/25, playing 4-2-3-1 or slight variant of is easily snuffed out when the other side have better or an extra midfielder.
