| Heading to Las vegas next week on 14:37 - Jul 20 with 1463 views | GlasgowBlue | I did two nights in Vegas last year a part of my road trip. TBH it was my least favourite place. No breeze at all so you are forever going into a casino just for the air con. I'm not a gambler so once I'd had a few goes on the slots and the tables it became a little boring. Some nice hotels though. We stayed in the Fontainebleau which over looks the Sphere. It was the newest hotel in Vegas at the time. Great hotel with a pools, bars, casino etc. Also recommend dinner dinner in the Bellagio Hotel which is right next to the fountains. Unfortunately when we went there were no big acts worth seeing live but we were just unlucky. A week later they had some very good shows on. Definitely visit Fremont Street, which is the original Vegas strip. It's very "down to earth", live music, shows, bar etc and they have a Zipline from one end to the other which is worth doing. A few junkies wandering around but they won't bother you if you don't bother them. A lot of people visit the Grand Canyon from Vegas but we'd already had two days there. I'm glad I went, and it was an experience. edit. Just seen someone else recommend Fremont Steet. [Post edited 20 Jul 15:11]

Pretty much agree. Glad I went for the experience, but won't be in any rush to go back.

It's somewhere I've done once but probably not again. Good to tick off but I had kind of got tired of it after a week.

Death Valley too. Well worth a trip. At the South end - past the Mandalay Bay and near the “welcome to Las Vegas sign” is the Pinball Hall Of Fame, with dozens of machines going back decades. It is a non-profit, and is a cheap way to pass a couple of hours if you like that kind of thing. I’d give Fremont Street a miss. It takes the best of Vegas and dilutes it with Great Yarmouth. You get a good view at the top of the Eiffel Tower. I assume also at the top of the wheel .. but I’ve not done that.

Just remembered I’m in Vegas too next week! Probably be in the Bellagio poker room. I’ll listen out for any tractor boy related banter
| Heading to Las vegas next week on 16:54 - Jul 20 with 964 views | _CliveBaker_ | Disneyland for adults innit. Agree with the theme of the replies, it probably is worth seeing once as its all a bit ridiculous really. I can't get my head around people who go regularly for a 2 week holiday or whatever, that's not for me at all. Its glitzy, massive, blingy, and full on, in the middle of the desert. Like a lot of things in America everything's on steroids, and Vegas strikes a weird blend of quite nice in parts (can get good food, good shows, nice hotels) yet nauseatingly naff. The Venetian's a good example, in some respects its a nice hotel, but its also got a bloke navigating a gondola around what is only a 30 year old building. It is all a bit Disneyland. Fremont street is worth a look, the OG casino the Golden Nugget is down there. Be careful though and don't step away from the touristy areas, because the lesser parts of Vegas, like many cities in US are no joke, with high levels of depravation and not at all safe in certain parts. | | | |
| Heading to Las vegas next week on 17:46 - Jul 20 with 885 views | ITFCson | So much to do and see. Of the shows I’ve seen Absinthe was my favorite. Like others have said Freemont street Bellagio fountains. Experience a buffet or two - the more you pay the better it’ll be. If you like to gamble then try the craps table and throw the dice. Head to the premium outlets north (outside) or south (inside) for very cheap designer gear. There is a great Go kart track if that’s your thing. You can also drive lambo’s and other super cars around a track or just sit inside for free for pics. Top golf at MGM if your into golf. The list is endless really. Be prepared to spend a fortune if you want to drink at the pools - but again you can still get good deals if you know where to go. I’m off in 2 weeks time - but the first time taking young children - I’m dreading it 😆😆 | | | |
| Heading to Las vegas next week on 19:07 - Jul 20 with 798 views | FelixBlue4 | If you are looking to kill an hour Kartzilla is a laugh, it’s a big shopping kart that goes along the strip playing music. Can be booked online the customers take turns picking the tunes. If it’s within budget take a late afternoon helicopter flight to the Canyon and on return it will be dark so you will see the strip all lit up. Peppermill does some good food at a low price but be warned the portions are big. If you get the chance they have some good acts and most of the venues are quite small but check the seating map online first. Easy to get around on the Deuce bus which will take you to Fremont Street, it can be fun down there but be warned it gets a little crazy some strange people around. If your phone has ESIM capabilities I would recommend getting one Roamic do a cheap one and easy to set up get for getting Uber etc. Be aware people will want to take pictures with you and they expect tips also watch out for people handing out free stuff (it ain’t free) Anything else feel free to ask. | | | |
