I have question, not important... 17:25 - Jul 23 with 1116 viewsITFCBluenose

I'm guessing Kayne, Toney, Watkins will not be at the next World Cup and may the Euros - who do we have in the background to take their place apart from Bellingham, who is a MF.

Poll: Which striker would you sign from Wolves -Sylvan Ebanks-Blake or Kevin Doyle

AI tells me only three English centre forwards aged 28 or under played in thr premier league last season. Adam Armstrong, who is back in the championship, Calvert-Lewin, who is made of tissue paper, and Liam Delap who seems to have regressed into the worst version of himself.

So... Kane and Watkins probably?

Abraham and Nketiah as well.

Lankshear was in the Championship but is a decent prospect. No doubt in four years we will see a couple of players emerge. We have some options.

While it is a bit concerning that there are no obvious replacements coming through, a lot can change in four years.

Four years ago Elliot Anderson was playing for Bristol Rovers and Morgan Rogers was playing for Blackpool.

Rio Ngumoha.

Has huge potential to be an excellent replacement for Kane.

Editing: He's more of an attacking midfielder so not like for like. Should have gone to WC instead of Henderson.

Is he the youngster who’s broken through at Liverpool this season. He looks like a short-arsed left winger to me. Cracking player already though. The scousers love him.

This always happens with different positions being discussed.

At the 2014 WC I’m sure many football fans had barely heard of Harry Kane with only 10 PL appearance and 3 goals.

Fast forward to the start of the 2018 WC and he’d scored 108 PL goals and 13 Intl goals.

And indeed he'd already established himself as part of the England set-up as early as the Euros in 2016.

Although Hodgson did put him on corners...

Probably a false 9 like Spain. We have Bellingham, Rogers, Rashford, Saka, Gordan, Eze, Foden, Palmer, Bowen & Maddison who can all play there.

Poll: New hobby suggestions for NeedhamChris.

Problem is we've spent so long playing Kane every game, there isn't another striker who plays like kane to take over from him

For anyone to come in and replace him, we've got to play a different way. You look at the Gordan goal recently, no other english striker is picking the ball up outside our box and pinging a ball up the pitch.

Assumes we play a traditional No9, who are disappearing from the game. If we follow the trend, we won’t have a Kane type player in the squad by 2030

we don't have to play with a traditional no.9, most of the top teams don't rely on it, can only really think of norway from the last 8.

even kane spends a lot of his time playing deep

I guess someone can always come around quickly…look at all the talk in the media about how Delap was due to be the next big England striker after half a season with us…

I can see us having to change our style of play and go with something like a false 9, might not have much choice, no one in the HK style of CF who's remotely good enough, unless Delap re emerges from his chrysalis, and I wouldn't want to put a mortgage on it.
