I initially read your post as meaning 10 weeks, and had a good old guffaw at that.

10 days sounds a lot less concerning, but certainly suggests a keenness to get the transfer done despite the injury.

Indeed. So won't get a proper pre-season under his belt for the toughest league in the world. Given our fingers have been burnt on Phillips and Cajuste I'm happy we've sat this one out. Once a player starts getting more niggling muscle injuries in their early 30s it's a slippery slope.

Agreed. We learnt the hard way last time so I'm all for playing the waiting game. The only issue is that we need at least two there which makes thing harder for us.

Obviously the thing that came up and we tried to renegotiate based upon. There is around a 50% chance of an injury reoccurrence, within 6 months of the initial injury with calf injuries.

The injury was 3 weeks ago, so 5 weeks out. Not major, but not insignificant either. It also seems he's had calf / muscle issues throughout his career. This is just the past 18 months (without the current 5 week calf issue)

And why not? We should always be on the look out for suitable and available players, and if it turns out they’re unsuitable, move on. We should (and I’m sure we have) always have a look at the experienced free agent pool.

Leeds, Villa and Brighton have all checked out Morita in recent weeks, which tends to suggest there’s something about him. Shame about the injury record. So we looked, and made the prudent decision to move on.

Can see why we avoided. On face of it not an issue, apart from fact newly promoted teams must hit ground running. A player missing pre season and this not match fit for weeks or months …
