| Enciso and Delap on 22:19 - Jul 30 with 2203 views | J2BLUE | Delap would probably need to be a loan. I doubt we would meet the asking price or pay his wages in full. The other thing with signing him permanently is that if we go down and he has performed, he would likely want a move to try and force his way into the Euros squad so we would lose him again and I would imagine he would have a release clause in his contract so we likely wouldn't even make a profit. I suppose it doesn't really matter but I would prefer a loan with an option to buy if we stay up. Not that I think it has any chance of happening. | | | |

Precisely nothing. Thought he had a poor second half to our last prem campaign. If used in a right way did have a great shot though. Enciso different matter, great player

I suppose we’ll have to wait and see. His performances this season have been comically bad. I know two Chelsea fans who say they’ve not seen a worse player play for them since before Abramovich. He’s gone from the great post-Kane hope to joke in 12 months.

The Euros squad haha. He's just been replaced in the Chelsea squad by a 35 year old Danny wellbeck.

Scored as many goals in the second half of the season as the first…. But his general performances did decline, yes.

Just the haters and Xabi Alonso and all Chelsea fans. I think there are more people in football who view Delap like that than view him the way you do. But untimely we’ll just have to wait and see. I don’t know that I’ve ever seen a more calamitous season than the one he’s just had. It’s completely changed my view of him He genuinely looked out of his depth to the tune of about 2 leagues. The history of strikers going to Chelsea and not succeeding is very long, funny in some cases but quite sad in others. It's a rotten club, always has been except for a decade and a half of excessive spending, and think that context should be applied to any judgement on a player there.

That’s true. I think he’ll nod in the odd goal for Everton, be a big physical presence and end up a cult hero at Sheffield United.
| Enciso and Delap on 09:22 - Jul 31 with 904 views | Mookamoo | Both would be superb options for us. Delap has been at a nut job of a club, so little surprise he hasn't developed. Just wait for comments on here when he goes to Hull for £25 million plus add ons. | | | |
| Enciso and Delap on 09:34 - Jul 31 with 849 views | Canuck_Blue | Those who were at Hotspur stadium in Nov 24 know what Delap can bring to the club. If GON can coach him back into being a starting striker and Chelsea are willing to go for something MA can live with (the harder of the two I would guess), I would be optimistic about the deal and a happy fan to start the season. | | | |

So you take only the context of the season that supports your view and not the context of the previous season which doesn't support your view? Some impressive cherry picking there. SB [Post edited 31 Jul 10:00]

Exactly this. If I wanted to cherry pick to make a point, I would refer to the games at home against Utd and Chelsea when he was virtually unplayable. Also Liverpool first half when he ruined Quansah's season in 45 minutes. The talent is there. It's managing him and getting the best out of him which is the challenge.

As mentioned before and shown Delaps performances before 'that' chelsea game were fantastic, the Delap after that was what Chelsea saw themselves, imo it's unfortunately someone who got the move he wanted and since then it's like you are watching a completely different player. If he comes back fine, but i think a mid prem side will take him and see if they can reignite something. But if he's on that reported 150k a week, if he's happy with that, we might never see that ipswich version of delap for a long while.
