It’s crazy I doubt any football fan on the planet thinks this is a good idea.

| Infantino pressing ahead. on 06:58 - Jul 31 with 1450 views | SuperKieranMcKenna | UEFA should stand firm. Tbh I don’t have a lot of love for international football, and FIFA has always been a corrupt self enriching organisation with no morals. A World Cup without the top European teams would be a tough sell for FIFA - like having the baseball ‘world series’ without the USA. | | | |

All European sides pull out of the world cup unless its dropped simple really won't be a proper world cup without the Spains Germans France us and even Italy after their recent exploits no one owns football.

The worst thing about this plan is that with private investment, FIFA will then acquire the need to give a return, i.e. to make a profit. No longer can all the money be ploughed back into its members, to help poorer nations, to support grassroots projects. A slice will have to be set aside so it can be handed over to this newly cobbled-together consortium (how much experience or expertise do they have in sports investing, let alone specifically football?) - and you can bet executive salaries will not be trimmed to make up any shortfall. Unlike when GC20 bought Ipswich Town and got them promoted, there is no easy route to increasing value and thus the leverageable value of the investments. There would be a desperate scrabble to wring every penny from more and larger competitions, hedged about with inflated broadcast deals (with free-to-air effectively shut out). But that's likely to be a vain quest as saturation is reached and casual viewership excluded, not to mention player burn-out having to play through every summer. It's not even a well thought out plan, just a short-term corporate raid.

Not sure he has. He'd need to bribe at least 106 of the 211 member nations. That quickly gets very expensive and the prospective investors aren't going to be happy if he has to give away all the loot in order to even get the deal through. Would mean less for them.

That was my thought, this is the unacceptable option, the real option will be introduced at a later date, but it will definitely be a shift to 4 quarters and a 30 to 40 minute half time with loads of adverts on screen during play.

On the plus side, that's a measure which would alleviate traffic congestion on the outskirts of paradise....

Something Len singularly fails to point out, perhaps because it doesn't fit in with his blinkered view of the world. Nevertheless, nice song.
