| 49,000 migrants crossing in one day to Cueta on 18:59 - Jul 31 by BarcaBlue | I think it's part of a wider debate and a process of destabilisation in the region from the US. Italy has announced it's closing Schengen agreements temporarily which is completely daft as this is all still confined to the African continent. It means Trump, Musk etc can point to serious issues ongoing in Spain and Europe regarding migration. Israel can look on smugly at the unrest, Farage etc can hark on about threats to our civilization so everyone's a winner. Well except the 30 or so kids who drowned yesterday. |
This event really does seem to have politics to it and not just random. It also wouldn't be the first time that migration has been used as a geopolitical tool.

Apparently Spanish Officials are reporting that 48000 have returned to Morocco voluntarily, so the numbers staying or trying to stay seems likely to be far far less than the headline numbers. The risk to Schengen area countries is tinier still as the migrants are all in Africa with no means to reach any Schengen boarder. Italy are just grandstanding to look tough. It's the type of cynical politics that poisons all debates about migration.

El Pais is reporting that 48,300 of the 50,000 who entered Ceuta have returned to Morocco. https://elpais.com/espana/2026 Shame on all those who have over-reacted, clearly for political purposes, including the governments of France, Italy, Finland and Denmark, not least because Ceuta is a fair way from Europe in any event. Seems they worked out before Jenrick, Meloni, Farage and others that they were still in Africa. El País reporting at least 57 drowned. Morocco is essentially a dictatorship so there will be no repercussions or investigations.
| 49,000 migrants crossing in one day to Cueta on 21:39 - Jul 31 with 1327 views | DJR | The Mail is reporting this. "Morocco is said to have facilitated the mass influx of around 60,000 migrants into the Spanish enclave of Ceuta, Western intelligence sources believe." | | | |

| 49,000 migrants crossing in one day to Cueta on 17:09 - Jul 31 by BarcaBlue | Not sure of the long term plot but it's being widely discussed here that the Moroccans have the support of Israel and the US in orchestrating the mass movement of kids into Ceuta. One prominent Catalan politician I saw just now describing the use of their own kids as cannon fodder to appease their backers. As I said before I don't think it's conspiracy theory to suggest who might be behind this. It clearly wasn't a spontaneous movement of people so some orchestration was almost certain. It's only natural to look at countries who have recently been threatening Spain or ones with historical grievances. Or a combination of them all. |
and your evidence is ..... oh no, it's just supposition and making stuff up.

it is entirely a weak conspiracy theory to suggest that israel is behind this. a few tweets by random people making vague political points is not evidence of anything. your unevidenced rush on the basis of next to nothing to blame israel for bad events elsewhere however is certainly suggestive of something.

Saying "it's not a conspiracy" doesn't make it not a conspiracy. The idea that Israel is facilitating or encouraging a sudden wave of migrants crossing to Cueta is 100% a conspiracy. Now it COULD end up being true (in which case it's still a conspiracy), but the most likely thing is that a moron on social media thinks because hundreds of years ago the Reconquista happened, they can deflect from their ongoing genocide in Palestine.

This 'conspiracy' part of the definition of antisemitism irks the hell out of me. Yes, suggesting that Netanyahu eats babies and controls global finance would be a massively antisemitic conspiracy. That doesn't give him a free pass from any and all allegations of conspiracy, especially when there's evidence to support the fact that those suggestions might not be entirely unfounded.

They of course may not be behind this particular incident, yet they have encouraged this type of incursion (seemingly, as I’m not on that platform to be able to check those posts). I don’t see what’s wrong with producing the evidence that shows they have encouraged it. It seems relevant to me as long as it’s clear these are past comments and discussed in that context, which is what people have done on here.

It's levelled against Israel because Israel is a Jewish state, and it is an old fashioned Jewish conspiracy theory. I'm no fan of Israel, but the origins of such a theory are pretty obvious. And it’s not the first time this particular poster has engaged in antisemitic conspires on this forum. Not long ago it was the puppeteer trope. Twice. I’ve only just seen this today but somebody posted this as abuse yesterday, which would have brought the post to Phil’s attention. Whether posting an antisemitic conspiracy theory is abuse or not is legitimate debate. But I’m appalled that Phil has seen this and left an antisemitic conspiracy theory to remain on the board.

you do a desperate internet search and this is the best you can find. some random on line article arguing that israel can 'back rabat diplomatically'. you don't understand what 'diplomatically' means? that the son of netanyahus makes a political point criticising spain's hypocrisy is equally not evidence of any involvement in these events. you know full well that you are pushing a nasty conspiracy fantasy on the basis of zero evidence. it's the worst of the internet and if you had any decency you'd be ashamed.

You are just a horrid, twisted little man who throws anti-semitism at anyone who points out Israel might be doing something bad. I’ve literally shown the detail which appears to show Israel encouraging certain behaviours or actions. As I said before and others have told you, that isn’t anti-semitism, it is holding people to account.

none of it is evidence of anything. it's coincidence, conflation and smear. if you had anything more you'd link it. discussion of diplomatic support for morocco is not evidence of underhand manipulation of migrant movement. and you know all this and you're just spreading an invented fantasy for political reasons. it's disgraceful.

So I’ve posted links by respected political analysts who say there ‘may’ be something else going on with evidenced links back to Israel. The US Secretary of State is on record pushing a narrative against Spain and pro-Morocco on Cueta. You just keep saying - no it’s a conspiracy. Post evidence to the contrary then. Oh and I’d love to know my fantasy political reasoning 😂 [Post edited 1 Aug 9:43]
