Apparently Spanish Officials are reporting that 48000 have returned to Morocco voluntarily, so the numbers staying or trying to stay seems likely to be far far less than the headline numbers.
The risk to Schengen area countries is tinier still as the migrants are all in Africa with no means to reach any Schengen boarder. Italy are just grandstanding to look tough. It's the type of cynical politics that poisons all debates about migration. |  | | |

Not sure of the long term plot but it's being widely discussed here that the Moroccans have the support of Israel and the US in orchestrating the mass movement of kids into Ceuta. One prominent Catalan politician I saw just now describing the use of their own kids as cannon fodder to appease their backers.
As I said before I don't think it's conspiracy theory to suggest who might be behind this. It clearly wasn't a spontaneous movement of people so some orchestration was almost certain. It's only natural to look at countries who have recently been threatening Spain or ones with historical grievances. Or a combination of them all. |

The US Secretary of State is on record pushing a narrative against Spain and pro-Morocco on Cueta.
