Operates very largely as a left sided forward, not a centre forward. Quite Impressive stats from last season, 7 goals and 9 assists in 2,617 minutes on the pitch in Serie A. A summary of his form over the past two seasons read, amongst others, likes to dribble and cut in, not great at crossing the ball, not great at holding on to the ball or defensively. So it seems he's basically a one man attacking show out wide left. Reminds me of someone I know.

A deal was agreed for him last year with Sunderland but fell apart due to his agents comm demands at the last moment. He’d had flown to England, it was close.
I’d trust Sunderland’s 2025 summer window, as I posted on here before a ball was kicked in the PL last season, I was sure they would thrive.
This is that profile! He lit up Serie B and the continued his form this last season in Serie A.
Would be a very exciting and attacking trio with him and Fatawu on both wings combined with Maeda and Enciso’s running and their press.
Philogene and Clarke probably both leave if this happens, might have to be patient and keep fingers crossed but this would be really elevating us IMO. Hope this one is true and comes off for us.

This is not the way to look at it.
We need strength in depth. We need quality players coming off the bench every game. We have to cover for fitness, injuries and form. We have to have tactical flexibility. Modern football at the top level is not about a "best XI"
Maeda provides an option on the left and upfront. Enciso can play in the 10 and off the left - up front in the right system. Lauriente could play the odd game off the right.
I still expect another more experienced striker to come. I still expect another midfielder to come after Luis. Honestly, this is exciting - it feels like we are really giving this a go!

GoN dropped the line about needing to be adaptable. It may be that maeda and enciso are seen as options in the 9. As is SWE. It just leaves us lacking an experienced goal scorer. I feel like we haven't really been linked to one for a long long while either.

Interestingly, of the players we’ve signed and being linked with, Maeda has been most prolific (admittedly this is across varying leagues and levels)
Based on last season:
Enciso - Ligue 1 - 5 Goals Fatawu - Champ - 9 Goals Lauriente - Serie A - 7 Goals Emerson - Ligue 1 - 6 Goals Maeda - Scottish Prem - 14 Goals and 16 season before
I’d agree though, I’d like to see a proven goalscorer for up top.

I didn’t mean at the same time, some versatility there behind the striker.
I like the idea of Laurienté a lot compared to what we have but I’m not sure we’d be doing it without a Philogene departure and decent fee. Would excite me though, much more of the profile of a left winger you’d want at this level.
