Great signing, however it’s worth pointing out Lukic is another CM that fits into the great out of possession but doesn’t offer much progression on the ball mould (similar to Azor / Florentino)
Wonder if Azor’s injury might be worse than we think therefore 2 holders were required.
Could also mean we’re looking to play 2 holding midfielders together that can fill in the spaces for fullbacks who offer the progression (suits Leif but will certainly need a new right back if this is how we’re looking to play) |  | | |

Think it's more likely we know that a) Azor could take a month to get match fit and b) between Azor & Lukic they are card happy and more than likely going to be unavailable at certain times.
I think Lukic is also a lot more forward thinking than a pure CDM | | | |

Three defensive and two attacking (Nunez and a new signing)in a Premier League squad that will be trying to avoid relegation doesn't seem excessive.
There will be times where we will need to play two of those "defensive" midfielders. It only takes an injury or suspension to one of them to b*gger that up. |  |

I don’t think you turn down good players if they’re available. The likes of Diop & Lukic bring a level of been there done it for me, a solid premier league level baseline where you know what you’re going to get.
Not disputing we need some X factor in the final 3rd though. As it stands we’re putting a decent chunk of hope value on an unproven Emersonn. Maeda & Farawu strengthen us, need a couple more though. Enciso is one who would bring that. |  | | |

Well, he got 9 in 19 games for Fulham last season! But no reds. One of those players who knows how to take it to the wire, without tripping over it. |

At the moment the lack of goals in our squad is a worry, Jaden likely off, JC doesn't seem to be flavour of the month Emmerson and Maeda both scored single figures in the French and Scottish leagues.

I still think based on what I've seen in the pre season games, we're looking for the full backs to push on and invert almost playing as an attacker then the 2 central midfielders drop in and fill the gap. Im pretty sure that if we're actively doing it in pre season it must be something we're looking to bring in to the league games. | | | |

I think a new RB / RWB is essential personally.
If we continue with a similar system to what we’ve seen so far, we’ll need someone with the technical ability to come into midfield, the athletic ability to get up and down, and be able to defend 1v1.
I don’t think any of our current options can do that, maybe Ben Johnson at a push but I’d be worried if he was first choice. | | | |

I did just check a Fulham's reddit board on my lunch break, and it appears he might have the ability to be a bit more of a box-to-box player than I originally thought but just wasn't always played that way in their side.
So, it could be he plays alongside one of the other two, still hope we take a punt on someone else that might be a bit more creative as an option for certain games. | |

If we get enough additions in, you’re most likely right - but it won’t be as simple as he’s gone as soon as someone wants him. We need a full squad. We don’t want to be going through the season short on numbers, and the more we let go, the more we need to replace - and there are limited links right now.
I know we have 3 1/2weeks to go, but it’s pretty evident that we’re only letting people go when we feel we have adequate replacements in or very close. [Post edited 6 Aug 19:44]

Yeah - certainly Ogbene is not in the plans by all indications, he certainly wasn't in KMs and EADT said he's available this summer as well.

What's odd about saying our first game is in 2 weeks on Saturday, it's a fact. Currently we don't have many goals in our squad which to me is a touch of a concern, unless GON is planning on duplicating Mick McGiven's masterplan of trying to draw every game 0 0 which didn't work out too well in the 90's.
