| Right Wing media seems to have decided that Lowe and Farage are the bad guys 13:26 - Aug 8 with 1543 views | Dubtractor | There has been loads of stuff going after Farage and reform recently, and now the Telegraph seem to have decided that Restore aren't for them either. What has changed? ITFCJoe suggested the other day that perhaps the media owners (Murdoch etc) have managed to move the tories to their required position on climate and immigration, and so no longer need Reform and Restore, and that does feel like a theory that adds up in a lot of ways. Or is it that the penny has dropped that the sort of unrest we are starting to see isn't what they really want to be cheerleading for? Allister Heath goes for Rupert Lowe for the second time in two days. The broader Telegraph joins in.

A proper centre right Tory party could win a lot of support. I criticised Badenoch the other day and stand by it but maybe she can turn things around. Like it or not, the social housing thing is going to go over big right now. Certainly an interesting development if she's changing tactics.

Elections can only really be won from the centre ground. I hope ultimately that’s where she pivots to. But the centre ground can still mean the policies that many of us hoped for under the last government. Lower taxation, smaller state, focusing on education, improvements to law and order, better policies on immigration and so on. I suspect that falling polling numbers for Reform will continue between now and 2029 because they simply don’t cover the range of issues and changes voters hope for. It’s worth noting that they are still polling incredibly highly for a new party. The Burnham bounce will be very limited. His attempts at retail politics are so fake. When it comes to real decisions he will be left floundering by his party. I suspect Labour will suffer the same fate as the conservatives did in 2024, albeit with a much lower base. Starmer won fewer votes than Corbyn

Oh, most definitely. Murdoch might be Satan himself, but he is second to none in business acumen, and if he thinks he's backing a loser in Reform, he'll be out of there. Plus with the various questions surrounding Farage, some of which would seem to have a genuine chance of toppling him, there's the realisation that without him, Reform will be a busted flush, along with more of a sense of "Get away from us you fool, you'll drown us all" The Telegraph news side has remained relatively level headed throughout, it's just their columnists have been a bunch of swivel eyed loons, so it is rather surprising to see Heath and co suddenly do this, but again, it might well be a case of thinking Farage is doomed and keeping their distance. It's the Mail and Express you have to keep an eye on, because they not led by profits so much, it's out and out idealogical vileness that they genuinely believe in.

The irony that Reform is now being pulled by a party to the right and another slightly more to the centre, considering that's how they weakened the Conservatives in the first place.
