Whilst i refrained from speaking to much about the farage stuff. And I have some misgivings on him in regards to local media. It cant be argued that hes an incredible ceo.

You’ve lost me. Friends and family know what I think of him. I don’t need to make the same point every single day. He’s doing a decent job overall, I just chose to challenge a gushing post saying what a great CEO he is. In my view he isn’t and the day he goes will be one I’ll enjoy.

Genuinely, if it wasn’t for his political faux pas you would be happy with his job at ITFC?

What kind of question is that?

Anyone who has an issue with Ashton will be because he invited a quasi-fascist to lunch, lied about it and then gave the most pathetic textbook non apology.

Frankly, f*kc the job he’s done here, the moment he lied to supporters then tried to claim he himself was a victim, he should have been chased out of the club.

A fair and serious question!!

Can I question your credentials? What do you do? Come on a forum and claim you know all the facts?

Would love to talk with someone who knows everything and is so clued up with MY ITFC!!

It’s a fair question. I’ll admit i’ve never been keen on him. This will shock you but my issue with him isn’t really about Farage as such, it’s his lack of judgement and failure to see the storm followed by how poorly he dealt with the aftermath.

Nothing surprises me on this board anymore, nothing.

Ashton has done a remarkable job and the day he goes the football team will be in a worse position because of it. Yet people on here wish him gone for supporting a party that the majority of Suffolk support. (Most sitting around you on Saturday will support) Yes it was a mistake hosting the leader of said party but that's all it was, a mistake. Yet folk on this site, especially, would rather him leave because of that mistake and as a result see the team/club regress. I pity those in that boat. Firstly because you're incapale of forgiving someone who made a mistake and might see something different to you, and secondly because no doubt you're happy with the absolute state of the country. Strange times.

Not to drag it up again, but It was more than a mistake though, wasn’t it? Lied about the visit, allowed Farage to mock KM and then issued a half-assed apology.

Ashton is 92/100 rating on football matters. He’s been brilliant for moving the club forward.

Amen 🙏

As I have referenced before, this is a football forum and not a political forum!!

I’m pretty happy how my club and my clubs chairman/CEO are performing.

When Ashton turns into Hitler and supports the rise of the fourth reich i’ll start worrying about politics.

I couldn’t give a flying flock who he invites to Portman Road as his guest, so long as the team is performing and the club is going in the right direction. This is a football club, and football is the only matter I’ll judge him on.

I’d like to hear why he didn’t lie in response the Athletic article. Keen to hear that.

I’ll also add that he refused to do an interview with an actual journalist. Despite encouraging others to run towards adversity.

Character is destiny.

To be fair about this - the OP was someone who supports Ashton. Thats who started the thread. Not the critics.

Supporters of Ashton shouldn’t start a thread discussing him if they don’t want to hear alternative views.

It reflects a wider tendency in modern society to excuse questionable behaviour from those in positions of power when the results are good for us personally. As long as the club is successful, investments are being made and the football is competitive, some people seem willing to overlook how those in charge conduct themselves.

That’s totally fine. But it’s a small example of how we end up with damaged characters running the world.

And it will of course end up biting us on the bum. It almost always does.

I actually do care who is invited to the football club. Not personally. He can invite Farage, Hitler, the Devil, Stalin and Vlad the Impaler for all I care. I don’t know him or them nor wish to. What I care about is any reputational damage to ITFC.

It’s why I’d never allow any politician near my football club. I am actually surprised the owners have left the upper operating structure of the club as it is. With the rate of change they had the opportunity to tweak it. They clearly have enormous faith in who is doing what or maybe have internally quietly changed how things are done. Maybe losing a CEO and McKenna at the same time was considered too damaging. Who knows.

Either way, it’s their money driving the club forward and given what they have done for it I’ll back them in their decision making for now. In my view, FBs opening post is correct.

they still can’t get their bonce’s round that they are in the minority…whatever happened to the mass protests and fighting in the stands which they all predicted?..bet they were gutted it never transpired…yeah yeah…a tiny minority ermmm…3 as far as I can tell…have chosen to never return to Portman Road as long as Mark is in charge…well..they’ve got a long wait I reckon..

as I have stated before I’m no fan of Farage and like many don’t think that Mark should hold the top 2 positions at the club…but hey ho…the owners seem to be happy with the job he’s done so far…as are I’m sure the vast majority of REAL Town fans…Uppa Towan..and all who support them..👍
