Is Emersonn less raw than we maybe first thought? 14:13 - Aug 24 with 1731 viewsWallingford_Boy

Certainly looked the part on Saturday.

Maybe its not a new starting 9 we need, maybe its someone as back up to him?

RIP Sir Bobby

We will get what we can I guess.

But as we rung the changes on Saturday I remember thinking how great it would be to be bringing Emersonn on.

First time I saw the goal I thought he scuffed it a bit, but with further watching he does well get it from behind him.

I think with how good Julio was Emersonn's performance is being swept under the carpet a bit.. Thought he looked really really good. Good touch, strong, quick, got a goal. Looks very good.

I remember the Toulouse fans, when we signed him, saying that he was big, athletic and a physical presence, but wasn't particularly technical/skillful. I'm sure the Sunderland defence would beg to differ on that - he left one or two of them on their a**es on more than one occasion! Sure, he's not Neymar (or even Enciso to be fair), but in terms of a Premier League striker, he really fits the bill for me!

I'm already worried about being able to keep hold of him next summer! Seems to have all the attributes he needs for the prem but still lots to come!

I'm still a bit horny at his run down the left in front of the Cobbold. Very reminiscent of Delap actually, in our opening game against Liverpool in exactly the same spot.

He's raw, but its not always a bad thing. He's fearless, and a bit of naivety isn't always a bad thing. Needs some help though, need another 1 in.

I read elsewhere that we weren't the only team interested but nipped in early which is why the price ended up being surprisingly high so we could secure him. I see him as a player with potentially a very high ceiling given his age and physique.

GON said that Emmerson was unfit when he joined so has taken all of pre-season to get back up to his level.

Hull were after him weren’t they?

Better to stay silent and be thought a fool than open your mouth and remove all doubt

If he carries on the way he has been, last 3 games, I expect us to be turning down bids this summer...

For me, just for the time being, he'd be absolutely great as a 2nd no 9 coming on after about 60/70 minutes. Not a guy I'd want to face coming on with fresh legs, when if I was central defender, mine wouldn't be! Looks to have a bright future.

Put it this way, if we are looking for a striker who is going to be ahead of him, he will have to be very good and bloody expensive

Yes, they bid over 20M but we went higher.

Poll: Ok gut feeling then, promotion?

Aye, not sure we'd spend £25m or so on a 2nd choice striker.

TWTD CP. Evans Out.
Poll: Neil Young or Lynyrd Skynyrd - there is no middle ground.
