I would be happy if we could get him in. He had a very decent return in a struggling Burnley team last year, pretty much as good as Liam Delap did for us. I would also be as happy to get him as i would if we could have somehow got Delap ( would've have to be a loan )
Maybe they would be interested in a little cash and / or a swap for Mehmeti, Palmer, ( we have a recall clause for Van Oevalen if needed ) Akpom
We must be approaching FFP limits particularly if we are getting Palacious.
Watch his ( Flemming ) highlights from last year, I think although arguably, possibly at his age Delap has a higher ceiling, Flemming is every bit as good.
Not sure why a few Town fans were not keen when reported he could be a target. As I have said, we do have to curtail to FFP and it has been as amazing transfer window so far, has it not?!
I think Flemming is probably going somewhere in this window, i'm not buying the slight calf strain, is it us? Watch this space. UTFT.

He looks like a younger Willem Dafoe, so that's a yes from me. If we beat off any competition they would be green with envy, so we should goblin him up.

My first thought was not another Burnley promotion yo-yo player but hadn't realised he scored 11 premier league goals in a team that struggled badly, almost a carbon copy of Delap, so with time running out, I'd say this would be an ideal signing.

Very good player. I imagine the fact he has played in the #10 position a lot in his career is also quite attractive. Gives us the obvious #9 addition but also cover for Enciso, as Egeli is still very raw.

Like him as a player, but not a deal I’d be keen to do at this stage of the window.
Crucial player for Burnley, who will be looking for a very inflated fee. At 28, they are believed to be asking for £20m +, feel there is better value out there.
But obviously if he’s the preferred option, I’d rather get it done than have no one come in may I add

Agree, really hope this is the striker we are in for unless somehow we can get Ueda.

£20m or so is not really an inflated fee for a decent CF signing with experience and a scoring record in the Prem any more. We paid that kind of sum for Emersonn (who lacks such experience), Forest have just shelled out twice that for Delap.

Better to get something done now than wait until next Tuesday, when time will be very tight and prices higher still.

I loved Ueda's stats, his goalscoring last year compared to Ruud V N's last year in the dutch league, I hoped that with Maeda being here could help to attract him but after tenuous links about a month ago not seen him linked with us since, so presumed was a non goer sadly. Maybe the fact that Flemming has vast experience of English football would make him a better fit anyway.

Considering Delap is heading to Forest for £45m I'd say half that fee seems decent for someone with a similar record, and who can also cover the ten position. I appreciate him being older will affect the price to a degree.

At this stage, getting any striker in with a track record of scoring goals in the Premier League can only be a good thing. Doesn't have to be the long-term solution - just has to contribute to keeping us up, which I think he can do. Emersonn has impressed me, so I'm more than happy with him being the main man with Flemming as his back-up.

I think he would be good for the way we need to play. Great chance conversion rate - right up there in top 3 last year. Scores a range of goals, a fair few good headers and clinical first time finishes.

Assume fancied over Ueda as he has Prem experience and scoring record. Also maybe Ueda wants another move to an established team and would be maybe £5m+ more expensive.

Zian Flemming on 09:48 - Aug 26 with 2668 viewsLibero

Personally, he's not for me - but if we sign him it's a great opportunity for Emersonn to establish himself, in a way that it wouldn't be if we signed someone of the quality of Ueda or Delap.

Edit: just gone and looked how he got on last year, as I was totally oblvious.
While I'm not a fan of the player, I will say that 11 premier league goals in 29 games in a relegated side *is* very impressive.

I don't know that he's quite what we need in terms of the broader game plan. The whole frontline is built around the front 4 being excellent out of possession and particularly the '9' chasing and pressing hard.

That's not particularly Flemming's game, he's not a focal point for your out of possession work which I think we need from a striker. Worth noting that Sunderland's top scorer only got 7 last season, so whilst you don't want a guy who can't finish, it isn't the end of the world if your striker is an ordinary finisher who just fits your system.

There's probably got to be some flexibility - even during matches. Maybe have Emersonn wrestling with defenders for an hour or so, then bring on Fleming who can shoot from range and get on the end of crosses from Davis/Maeda/Clarke or Fatawu/McAteer.

Perhaps, if Palacios does come and we get one of Flemming/Ueda that will be some transfer window.

Isn’t GONNA mantra ‘flexibility’? To have someone come on and give defenders a whole new set of problems would be good wouldn’t it?

Still have gaps. We really need another FB/CB hybrid (akin to O'Shea) and right wing cover. Although Bakwa is apparently going to Lille I'm encouraged we were in for him.

He is listed as a pressing forward. And his defensive stats are in the top 95percentile for forward defensive actions. So I think he could probably play how we would like him to.

I actually think he’s a good player, my issue with him is that I don’t see him being the 9 we need from a style point of view.

Not sure he’ll offer us a threat on the counter that Emersonn does & that’s what we are going to need this season.

Good that he can play both as a 9 & 10 but I just don’t think he’s right for us. Hope to be proven wrong if he does join though.

I know some are keen on Flemming, for me, I'm not raving about it, it has the feel that we have missed out on our primary targets, Embolo etc, and are now scraping around for someone, if it comes off it will be the one signing for me that feels like Championship player, but let's see, time will tell, I kinda felt that way when we signed Delap.

That said, scoring Eleven goals in a struggling team in the prem is no mean feat.

I'm biased, as I've never fancied him - but I have to admit that after seeing you managed to nab 11 premier league goals in 29 games, I am less concerned, as even if he isn't my cup of tea and I think (like you) we already have in house someone who does what he does, he is at least a Premier League proven goalscorer.

I've just got my heart set on Ueda, sadly. Only Delap could top him, and that appears to be an absolute no go, due to the fee and fact he's offer to Forrest.

Ueda's stat of 18 goals in 43 appearances for Japan is I think the most important stat. Purely and simply a goal scorer. It would appear we want something different. Ray Crawford would never get a game in the modern era, 20/25 a season in the PL, wouldn't cut it, it seems.

He’s a really hard worker. He was in the top 5% of defensive contributions from defenders last season, dropping back and disrupting play. https://www.fotmob.com/en-GB/p Also good in the air in attack and at defending set pieces.

GON wouldn’t look at him if he wasn’t a hard worker and team player.
