| What is going through KmC head 21:22 - Aug 27 with 2179 views | Tampa_Florida_Blue | I seeing these new signs coming in, and every time I think to myself, what must be going through Kmc's head. Looking at who we have brought in and the squad he got 2 years ago. You can not convince me he is not watching this transfer window. | | | | |
| What is going through KmC head on 21:24 - Aug 27 with 1734 views | Gary_Knows | To be honest, does he really care? Sitting on 100k a week to take time out with his family? I’m not sure he’d care what we’re doing. | |

Who’s paying him £100k per week?
| What is going through KmC head on 21:27 - Aug 27 with 1604 views | Axeldalai_lama | Probably thinking he's still hugely glad of the break and a rest from a job which consumed him and took up huge amounts of time and mental capacity against his family life for 5 years in his mid 30s. | | | |

I doubt anyone on here knows the financial terms of his departure. There’s no way he walked away with nothing but with the club retaining the reported £8m release clause though. He’d have either agreed a lump sump when he left or is be being paid a salary for the remainder of the release clause period.

Yep, of couse he would. A part of me wonders if we're better equipped to deal with this step up under GON. I know what KM did for us, but GON has had a few more experiences at the top level. There's a bit more energy about the place too. Possibly even those of us who knew that last season took a lot out of Kieran didn't appreciate quite how much. Maybe not and I've got that completely wrong - we'll never know. Ask me again if we're bottom by December and I'll probably be less charitable towards GON!

| What is going through KmC head on 21:35 - Aug 27 with 1340 views | ITFCSG | KM is a football maniac, I am sure he will be watching our current window. Its hard to know what he feels though, as OldFootball said he probably went for a more conservative approach without jeopardising the club should we fail to survive. This time it seems the club has gone full Sunderland/Forest Not sure if he'd have embraced working with a dressing room looking like a UN General Assembly meeting though, always felt it was to a large extent his choice for almost exclusively signing players born and raised in the home nations as per the leaked dossier in summer 24 | | | |

We will still be paying his contract, up until he goes to a new club. That’s normally how it works. I only found that’s what happens a few years ago when Tottenham were still paying Mauricio Pochettino for the best part of 2 years until he got the PSG job. It’s also what held up Enzo Maresca’s move to City this summer as he was still being paid by Chelsea as they held his registration.

McKenna told us himself. Needed a break for his own and his family's good. That's a personal not a footballing reason.

That tends to be what happens when a manager is sacked (paying off the remainder of his contract, or a portion thereof). Doubt it's the case given McKenna effectively resigned.

That only applies if your contract is terminated by the club, as KM resigned the club will have paid up his performance bonus for promotion but will not be paying him a salary anymore.

You can’t resign and be paid up unless something is agreed and the club were happy for you to leave which I can’t believe is the case is here. If you are sacked then yes the club have to pay your contract until you secure new employment. That isn’t the case here. Otherwise people would resign all over the place to get paid for sitting on the beach

But we have been told we are covered - in terms of McKenna’s release clause. So I will be amazed if we are not - even a portion of - still paying him to hold his registration, to in turn get his release clause, or part of it paid when he does eventually get a new club. But happy to be proved wrong if we are not paying him.

Tho Copford makes a good point about the £8m "release clause". There's probably some quid quo pro around that.

Surely that would only be a goodwill gesture? McKenna broke the contract (with our love and goodwill, obviously) so it would make sense to only hold him to that one part of it? Not sure why we would need to pay for it.

Nope, by resigning you forfeit any claim to remainder of contract outside of any agreed bonus based on performance, however the compensation clause will still apply for 12 months from point of termination. I cant see how any clause would legally obligate Town to be paying a salary anymore under employment law unless everyone is not tell8ng the truth and he was fired.
