Will be interesting to see how they're compared to environmental groups who did the same and who mainly showed their faces. Were anti terror laws used against them in the end? Weren't there calls by certain sections on the right to run them over?

Let's wait and see.

What on earth are you talking about?! I haven't said anything about when anyone's allowed to join a thread. I simply said you hadn't been involved in it, your first interaction was to steam into Stokers about something from years ago!

Your post had nothing to do with the thread, it was just an attack on Stokers. And there was nothing mild about it.

I have no idea or evidence about what he may have posted about you decades - before - the years ago that you're referring to either. I think you've lost the plot.

Please re-read what you posted.

I don't think you've understood what he has posted at all, to be frank.

Antifa always wear masks on their rather unpleasant protests

Yeah that’s true. So IRA and then Antifa. Are they still a thing, as I haven’t heard anything about them for years?

Interesting to see Farage, having annoyed the patriots at Dover by condemning balaclavas, is now trying to make up for it by calling for the banning of all face masks, including religious ones.

https://www.telegraph.co.uk/po

"Farage: Ban balaclavas on Britain’s streets

Reform leader says he wants an end to all face coverings in public, including religious ones"

Leaving aside the fact that it will make Halloween rather dull, it is further evidence of how authoritarian Reform (a party that professes to believe in freedom) is.

And is the proposed ban also a roundabout way of banning medical facemasks which seem to be a bugbear of some on the right?

I'm n the right and I hate 'medical' facemarks. They are not medical at all and a real sign of that horrible, authoritarian time.

They do bits and bobs don't they. I don't think they are a pleasant and cuddly mob, but no big deal.

You’ve not spent much time around Asians and especially the Chinese then. It’s commonplace there where people used them to restrict things like cold viruses (and they work for that). Weird for us maybe, but normal for them and they’re commonplace around us in our Chinese student community. Leave them to it I say. It doesn’t cause anyone any harm.

Similarly, health professionals still use them to reduce disease transmission. They are medical; studies have proven they prevent the spread of viruses like the common cold virus.

Not having a cold for about 2-3 years was one of the few positives to come out of the COVID pandemic. I’ve no way of knowing for sure, but suspect masks were a part of that.

speaking as someone who knows about these things, they stop a vast amount of transmission.

they may not be 100% effective, but they are definitely medical, and will have saved countless lives

My entire team are Asian, working in London, Singapore and Hong Kong. Less so China.

I don’t completely reject the evidence on masks of course, that comment was more out of frustration. In surgical use more so. don’t like them and it reminds me of a very difficult time in life. I lived alone during the pandemic.

Would you recommend wearing one in winter?

Do you have a link to any real world evidential papers on this? I’m asking out of interest, not a demand!

TFL - "I simply said you hadn't been involved in it, your first interaction was to steam into Stokers about something from years ago!"

Yeah, I hadn't been involved with the thread tiil I did get involved with it as soon as I had time to read it, the morning after it was first posted. Same as thousands of other posts by hundreds of other posters on here who are not pulled up for it by TFS or anyone else.

I politely reacted to a post by sb which was totally relevant. Again, many others have made similar posts in similar circumstances over the years & not received anything like the reaction to mine here.

Having said that, I had completely forgotten sb saying a couple of weeks(?) ago that he'd been impersonated/stalked; I wouldn't have reiterated my question to him if I'd remembered, so apologies to him for that if he reads this.

do you have a problem with thousands of males wearing balaclavas walking through dover?

zero asylum seekers is a fantasy that will never be achieved, labour have reduced this through international co-operation.

the international isolationism of reform or the new tories would just mean more small boats. why doesn't that worry you?

I don’t think anyone should wear a balaclava on any kind of march, and I mean all of the marches in London as well.

Have you see the UN has stated that just 1% of these people on the rubber boats have a right to claim asylum in England?

That means 99% of them don’t.

Yet they still pour in,the country is heaving with too many people in it.

It can’t carry on.

Mind you nothing will change, our leaders are cowards.

Have a good day.

"Have you see the UN has stated that just 1% of these people on the rubber boats have a right to claim asylum in England?"

You're going to have to show your source for this claim now. I suspect you're lying.

I think the reference is to this link from the times yesterday. I read this on Spiked online, it’s not from the UN but a home office insider.

Shocking that the RNLI have had to make their statement today. Those opposed to them are callous and want to see other humans die. We live in dark times.

The UN didn't state that only 1% of asylum claims are genuine - it was an unnamed Home Office whistleblower stating an opinion, which has yet to be backed by facts anywhere (and this story made it to many media sources)
