He’s beloved. The Republicans will do well based on lies, bribery and intimidation, and if they don’t they’ll either amend the results or ignore them (fake news). I genuinely think Trump will elect himself for a third term - ‘national emergency’ and all that jazz. The bloke is utterly bonkers, beyond unpleasant but the people cannot see it or don’t wish to. His subordinates are just as crazy and dangerous.
The politicians of this country need to put their politics aside for a day or two and get real. Authoritarianism and dictators are on the rise. There is no ‘International Law’ however much Burnham and co bleat about it. It’s gone, finished. Appealing to peoples’ better nature isn’t going to cut it.
You can either be strong enough to encourage them to leave you alone while buddying up with others under threat or you can hope for the best. Just today the unusually, the head of MI5 has issued a statement.
It’ll be ignored because I think we know what path the government has chosen, including our wonderful u-turn Chancellor whose word is about as as worthwhile as a chocolate teapot.

I’m not sure about Trump. I see him as a gullible fool following an agenda set by men in grey suits. They are the real danger. Going to be interesting to see who they put up to succeed him in two years time.

The disadvantege of a two-party system, when one of them is hijacked by factional elements.
If the choice is between Trump and Democrats, about 40% of US citizens will vote for the former every time, because otherwise they let their ideological opponents in. There is no alternative or middle ground to support.

Given what we saw with Johnson and ARE seeing with Moscow Nige and Racist Rupe, I kind of find it less surprising. There appears to be a decent amount of people out there who are happy to be conned and lied to as long as they think the 'right' kind of people are going to get hurt.
