When he was announced as our new manager, I have to be honest, I was pretty underwhelmed.
However, the more I see him, hear him speak and see the results of his work, the more I like him. McKenna was a very tough act to follow and we’d had so many good times under him, it was almost unimaginable seeing anyone else in the manager’s job but I guess I’ve accepted it now and I think under O’Neil we actually have a realistic chance of staying up.
It’s early days of course but I’m really starting to like him. [Post edited 13 Sep 12:06]

Gary is a canny guy. You can see he has the team as a unit that works cohesively to pressure other teams and be adaptable. It is a different method to McKenna, but hey we play decently and to the standard of this league. I'm happy, and I was in respect t of his appointment, he's what we need. |  |

O'Neill speaks well but ultimately he will stand or fall with our results this season. He has been given a big enough budget for us to have a chance of staying up. I'm glad he's largely kept with the same team for the first few games as the squad are getting to know each other & him them. Arsenal game is a good opportunity for a few experiments & most of our regular starters will be rested. He's already made it clear that Emersonn won't be involved. Will be interested in what changes he makes for Everton. We still look vulnerable at the back, but Palace defended crosses woefully for the first 2 Town goals. |  |

It must be really hard trying to coach a squad with various foreign tongues. Then the players having to interact on the field. But these are the skills that GON honed at Bournemouth, Wolves and Strasbourg and we are starting to see the benefits at Town. Our season so far is superb because we have beaten the teams which we are realistically on an even keel with and don't have super stars. Long may GON reign. | |

He strikes me as a man who is fairly highly strung.
I think hes quite calm and measured while things are going well.
I do, however, think we could see a caged bear being poked with a stick if/when times get tough.
I like him so far. Lets see where he takes us.

For me despite the highlights, that was a game Town deserved to win and edged. But it was a game where we made it harder for ourselves, our own unforced turnover and cheap errors. So I’m glad he’s identifying shortcomings.

To be honest I think he's done a brilliant job so far, I think that I was pretty much the same but I was very happy it was him instead of OGS. I was sold after our first game I think though. I still think McKenna is a genius and will manage at the highest level if he wants to. However I really think O'Neil is a better fit for us in this current phase of our plan to be an established premier league team. It fits everyone this way round because if he does keep us up, you can pretty much guarantee he gets another prem job in the future regardless of how it ends up here. | | | |

Indeed, unlike KM he doesn’t have any credit in the bank. He’s been backed HUGELY so if (not saying we will be) we are adrift by Xmas I don’t think the Americans would hesitate to make a change.
Counterintuitively we’ve been worse defensively than his past experience suggested, but better going forwards. Kind of reminds me of our first Championship season back out scoring teams and getting late goals. If we can continue do that against the mid teams we should be fine. | | | |
