I think there's always someone somewhere who's out of a job, or a KM type willing to give it a go. Maybe that won't happen. I don't know how long the Coventry board is prepared to wait. It is of course early days but as we found out this League is very unforgiving.
We improve every game, is Coventry doing so ? Seems not on the face of it.
I have no axe to grind with them. I'm no fan of Lampard I always felt like he was a person who had a too high opinion of himself. But that's just me. | | | |

My understanding was that he was very well liked by Cov fans.
That said, don't think it's like with us and McKenna. I reckon he might get till Christmas, you never know, he might turn it around.
I actually don't think it's as much him as it is their squad just isn't there, despite the money spent. |  |

Would be a sensible approach and what I’d do. I’ve no idea if it would be the right one though. There are plenty of example of new managers completely turning a team around. I’d be doubtful Coventry have the players to give anyone a chance of that, but who knows. |  |

This is true but I really do think last seasons Coventry get nowhere near the 4 clubs in and around the automatics when we went up. They were pretty poor champions, who did really well to capitalise on some terrible underperforming parachute clubs. | | | |

Well yes, I would agree. Which is why it was so eye-rolling that the pundit class were fawning over Lampard, picking Coventry as the inevitable filler of the one single promoted team quota which is allowed to stay up. Essentially because they have a famous manager who used to be a fantastic player, and of whom they have heard.
Granted, they came top in the Champ, but since when has that guaranteed staying up, or finishing above the other two promoted sides? Their squad doesn't look good enough on paper, to me, and so it has proved thus far. Zero points from 4 games is a bit ominous. I would think that Villa, Bournemouth and Spurs will improve on their zero percent win percentage, making one wonder exactly who Coventry can even hope to finish above. 8 points behind Hull, and 6 behind Ipswich already.
There was insufficient analysis of us and Hull by the pundits before assuming we'd go down, and a lazy reliance on Lampard. I see Lampard as a decent manager, but there's not enough evidence to suggest that he's any better than GON.
And although we need Hull to start falling back down to earth, taking off my Town hat, I'm actually quite pleased for them. Never underestimate the strength of continuity and team spirit. We utilised it very well when scoring our second successive promotion under KMac, and Hull seem to be, now. Their manager is certainly good at making the most of his resources, soaking up pressure, and often doing enough to win.
Assuming Cov don't improve radically, it'll be over by January, and they will know what division they'll be buying for! |  | | |

Hull were possibly one of the hardest teams to beat in the Championship. Expansive football for smaller teams has proven difficult as was seen when we were last in the Prem. I'm no manager but it seems you have to set up to attack when possible, but defend well when you have to.
I still think this is an area we are lacking a couple of players, but understand that due to the loan falling through of a centre forward we then had to spend and this impacted on the time left also.
Let us hope we can get through until the January window and then get a couple in, but it then means a couple may have to depart. | | | |

Yesterday was a bad result for them, one thing to lose to Arsenal and Man City and be a bit unlucky against Hull but a home defeat of that magnitude against Brighton.....
A bit like for us when we lost to Everton in early October two seasons ago, they controlled the game and other than VAR randomly takin away a penalty to us we didn't ever look like competing. |  |

I guess it is fairly interesting that of the few teams to have made a real fist of things after their promotion following a long hiatus, Forest, Sunderland and (early doors) Hull were play-off winners with not particularly convincing Championship records and therefore knew fairly obviously that a huge overhaul was needed.
Quite a sad indictment of the gap that a 95+ point Championship season provides you with a handful of Premier League squad players at best. |  | | |

Hull were not one of the hardest to beat teams (15 defeats). 6 teams were harder to beat. Two of them, us (8) and Cov (7), significantly so. Another thing opposite to this year is that last year they had a terrible defence. The only teams to concede more goals than them were Sheffield Wednesday, Leicester and QPR.
Hull have some good continuity, but they've massively improved as a defensive unit this season to last. Credit to them as it's gained them a massive headstart. 7 points above the drop zone is huge (although not complaining about our 5) |  | | |

If they are going to go the way we did 24/25 after a period out of the top league they would be as well to maintain status quo, use it as learning and invest back in the champ. The big caveats are around how the team reacts and responds to the adversity through to May, and where that leaves Frank.
This is all a bit ahead of time really, there is along way to go and this discussion might very well apply to us. Let us not get ahead of ourselves after 2 PL wins, this is all one game at a time stuff until May with so much hard work ahead in the dark months. | |
