First time I think I've ever heard a fan base ole the opposition team's passes as a piss take before. Am I bit woke for thinking that was a bit classless?
It sort of demeaned the spectacle during that period of the game.
They were generally quite annoying the whole night. The "we know what we are" chant is old hat now and just a bit painful and childish. Wish we didn't bother with the even worse "you'll never sing thaaaaat" in reply. Probably the worst chant in football.
The football team they pretend to support are absolutely brilliant though, even if we did give them a couple of helping hands. I wish we could stop giving these teams a headstart, because we can be competitive if we can just be a bit tighter and try and play our way into the games a bit more gradually.
As against Liverpool we played really well at times, even more so tonight. Good chances, another two goals, fringe players impressing. Again, a defeat, but a positive night generally I think.

Arsenal oddly hate Ipswich, last time they spent 90 minutes singing about us going down and how they will never play at Portman Road again (ha).
It seems from reading their comments post match that they don't realise they were playing our second string, and frankly nobody at Ipswich could give a toss about progressing in any cup competition and we'd have happily gone out just the same to Bromley or the like.

The amount of them in the home ends are almost certainly down to plastics living in IP, CO, CB postcode areas.
It's all so easy to support a successful, big team. I could do it. I could decide today that I will follow Man C, Arsenal or whoever and then patronise a club from a working class town that people have grown up supporting through thick and thin, but proper football supporting isn't like that. The general chanting in English football has been on a steady decline for a while. Even with our own songs we just change the players name and regurgitate the rest of the words. It feels lazy and just the same as all other clubs.

If you class winning totally devalued FA Cup and League Cup as major achievements then I suggest your bar is set low. Were supposed to be talking about one of the big 5 PL clubs here and their spending power. Now look at winning the business end of the domestic season, their achievements are largely in the 90's, or earlier. So yes, " won fck all (of note) in recent years. [Post edited 16 Sep 12:00]

It was totally classless. If we had been playing negative football frustrating them all night and then made a couple of passes I could understand it but we hadn't been. It was summed up that the spell where they did it was about 30 passes that ended with Walton kicking long and us getting the free kick for a foul inside their half. It was not long before they then had the highlight of their evening with their orchestrated one-by-one revealing of the little group of 4 fans in the south stand to their loudest chants and cheers all evening (apart from for their goals).
It didn't surprise me that their fans were so quiet as I had been to the Emirates before and it was like a morgue apart from when they scored. They were definitely collectively a strange bunch of fans. |  |
