Half our starters are probably in the mix to start most of their games for countries but as you say a good rest/training week for the rest of the squad. Don’t know how that would compare with Fulham?

I find it quite infuriating that Palacios, Nunez, Enciso and Maeda are off to clock up minutes in their legs in meaningless friendlies. At least with the other ones there is a competitive nature to the games.

I make that 9 players who’ve been regular involved plus Billy Jean. And critically several who were trying to get up to speed/bring on (Flemming, Florentino, Emersonn, Scherpen, Ouattara). A decent bunch for GON and his team to get stuck into.

Tho at this stage in the season, minutes in the legs (game sharpness) is not such a bad thing. Will probably be not much more intensive than the training regime, anyway.

The thought did enter my mind this week. What's the fitness/form like of any competition he would have in that position? Very outside chance you'd hope, seeing as he's had such a stonking start to this season.

I remember the days when an international break meant the only regular player left behind at PR was Paul Cooper. Mind you, the size of the squad then to now is rather different. Still, it wasn't bad, having 10 of your 11 regular starters away on international duty.
