| My turn for a negative thread, but my concern is Enciso 17:23 - Sep 19 with 2836 views | pointofblue | I was hoping he'd became less selfish in his time away from England, but he was poor in that regard today. I hope he can sort things out because he's our lynchpin, and we need better from him after the international break. | |

| My turn for a negative thread, but my concern is Enciso on 17:33 - Sep 19 with 2457 views | mistert | That's a little harsh. I hadn't seen any sign of that in the previous 4 matches, quite the opposite in fact. I think he found it tough at times today. What moments of selfishness can you point to? | | | |
| My turn for a negative thread, but my concern is Enciso on 17:35 - Sep 19 with 2426 views | tortoise | I feel pretty positive about the performance today, but have to agree. I thought Enciso was a little disappointing. He’s clearly a very good player, but needs to move the ball on quicker in my opinion. | | | |
| My turn for a negative thread, but my concern is Enciso on 17:37 - Sep 19 with 2383 views | CopfordBlue | Completely disagree. If we have a team who play it safe every time we won’t create a thing. He’s young and a bit inconsistent but most of his best moments this season have come when he’s backed himself. He’s not going to get it right every time but if that one he hit first time from just outside the box had gone in you’d have been praising him for his quality. | |

| My turn for a negative thread, but my concern is Enciso on 17:39 - Sep 19 with 2371 views | grow_our_own | He ran up a few blind alleys today, but was no worse than Clarke, who seemed to have read too much of the hype around himself in recent days. Emmerson well off it too, gifted possession, and failed to hold it up. I think those three being under-par was why it was the worst pair of halves from us this season until we went down to 10, and were improved with the subs. | | | |
| My turn for a negative thread, but my concern is Enciso on 17:39 - Sep 19 with 2359 views | TresBonne | I think that's a bit harsh personally. He's one of those players where you're going to have to take the rough with the smooth. His big moments only happen when he takes people on and goes for the glory. Just unfortunately that means 9/10 of those will result in him being tackled. | |

| My turn for a negative thread, but my concern is Enciso on 17:41 - Sep 19 with 2349 views | Illinoisblue | I share those concerns albeit I don’t think it’s selfishness, rather a lack of awareness of the game around him. His breakaway in the 6th minute… promising but took far too long to shoot or pass. | |

We have to accept that defeats like today are going to happen this season. Thought we did ok today against an Everton team who are doing well so far this season.

I agree with Clarke, which is a shame because he had such a good game last week against Palace. And I don't think Maitland-Niles is a high quality right back who should cause him trouble. Also agree with Emmerson, I think Flemming should have come on at HT. But he hasn't got the international or European experience, outside of Ligue One, that Enciso has so I'm expecting more consistency from him whilst he gets used to the league. The subs were good calls, even though I had my doubts about them at the time. Just a bit late in some cases. I think someone asked when Enciso had issues today; I think others have referenced incidents from the game, holding on too long and running down blind alleys when other options were available. Sometimes individual skill is required but it's a case of choosing the right moment.

That's fair - maybe lack of awareness is a better description than selfishness.

| My turn for a negative thread, but my concern is Enciso on 17:49 - Sep 19 with 2190 views | Blue_Uprising | It was a congested midddle of the pitch and Enciso and Emersonn toiled a bit to try forcing things through the middle where there was not a way. Thought Leif was also quite quiet in an attacking sense. Will gave to watch the game back to see why. Frustrating as our best chances wereo get it to Fatawu and possible down the left as well if we could, but just didn’t get the overloads today. | | | |
| My turn for a negative thread, but my concern is Enciso on 17:53 - Sep 19 with 2137 views | StokieBlue | We've played 5 league games, he's been a little selfish in 1 and excellent and creating for others in the other 4 along with 2 assists. Not sure why you're picking this one performance to form this view. I agree he wasn't great today and should have released earlier a number of times but the body of evidence (in a small sample size) would lead towards him having improved a lot at knowing when to release and pass to others (like the goal in the first match against Sunderland). After about 10 mins we broke nicely and were a player up …..he tried to go through on his own with Davis out wide in acres of space , consequently he lost the ball . | | | |

Was that when he looked like he back heeled it? I don't know what he was trying to do there.

Leif was in inverting mode today, McKenna tried it last season and I don't think it suits him. Today, I wold have preferred him wider with Clarke having a free role to cut in.

You can see why they've been so hard to beat this season.

If you care to watch a full match replay, I'm sure you'll see it a few times, I did while it was happening. I'm sure he'll learn and once he does there's a real quality player there. That being said, it wasn't him that badly let the side down today.
| My turn for a negative thread, but my concern is Enciso on 22:23 - Sep 19 with 1575 views | Adams | I love Enciso, but while he's very talented, his decision-making has always been poor. This causes him to be inconsistent. He can look world-class one moment, and then mess up the simplest thing or pick the wrong option. His goals/assist record is pretty average as well. It's why, despite his ability, he's playing for us and not a bigger club. I think the positives still far outweigh the negatives, but we might need to be more realistic in our expectations of him. He could very easily have been the goal scorer in a 1-1 draw. | |

I actually think that (hidden in the negativity in the OP) there is a big positive in this thread. I feared when we signed Enciso it would be the version of 2 years ago who looked skilful but without the end product. In the first 4 matches this season he has shown far more impact. Maybe that is partly from having better players around him too. But, the point I am trying to make is: if he can have 4 good games to every 1 with little impact that bodes very well. Well done, Julio (when you read this), you are impressing me!

I would hope the players are sensible enough not to read this, or at least not care about what a bunch of random people think on a forum. This is a forum to discuss football, so only allowing people to post positive things would make the place a bit pointless. It's a good thing they can't read during the match. This place is all over the place during a game, with people posting every thought they have as a new topic. The worst forum I've ever seen during a game (which is why I avoid it completely during any game)
