I know they aren’t literary masterpieces but I’ve enjoyed most of his books, a new one is out this week so a real shame he doesn’t get the chance to promote it
A liar and a sh1t but very charming in person. Certainly one of the speakers I have heard at a dinner - although his claim to have always been a supporter of the coal industry's benevolence association was one I was slightly sceptical of given he was in the Tory party in the mid-80s.
The sort of self-entitled, conscienceless little man who never acknowledges or apologises for his misdemeanours and crimes, but carries on bullsh!tting and manipulating people and convincing himself that it's everybody else's fault.
Good work by Philogene...... GREAT WORK BY PHILOGENE!!!

Think fact he just carried on knocking out novels whilst his epitaph was written 25 years ago is to his credit, would have been very easy to just retire in disgrace opposed to keep having to front up.

Yeah! It was pretty bloody harsh on Archer, who I never met, but the absolute opposite of applicable to the superb Mr Fairs, my favourite component of the excellent Blue Monday crew.

It doesn’t make any sense to me that if you’re an MP and get imprisoned for over a year you get booted, but if you’re in the Lords it’s all fine and dandy.
I bear him no ill will but the description of his wife as fragrant always made me laugh because it suggested a little "bias" on the part of the judge..
"During the 1987 libel trial Mary Archer famously took the stand to support her husband.
The judge was so impressed by her demeanour that he mused why any husband would seek the company of a prostitute when he had Mrs Archer at home.
Summing up, Mr Justice Caulfield described Mrs Archer as a vision of "elegance, fragrance and radiance".
Lord Archer won his libel action and was awarded £500,000 damages."

Stood on my wife's foot once (and made it bleed) when she was catering at a Party Conference. He never apologised - someone else eventually did on his behalf.

Guess it helps add a diversity of opinion and experiences…..!

Don't know much about him beyond the standard wiki biography and haven't read his books. He was rightfully put away and did his time.
But shortly after Archer's release from prison, I found a greetings card on my dad's study desk at home. Printed on the front: "From the office of Jeffrey Archer" and inside a handwritten note "Thank you for your support during a difficult time - JA" (or something along these lines). I never did ask what form this support took.
