But this takes it to a whole new level:

Not a prophet, or a stone-age man; just a mortal with potential of a superman.

I know that in general you shouldn't judge people by their appearance, but I do think that sometimes the camera can candidly show the reality of somebody's personality:

Out of interest, my Portuguese neighbours on both sides of me, all think he’s a kn0b! And the local government here in Madeira just announced they’re buying a property or something here to make a shrine to him, what a waste of taxpayers money……..oh & Noodle my Dachshund pee’d on his statue whilst walking past the other day, always said she’s a good judge.

If they look like a kn0b, sound like a kn0b and behave like a kn0b - it's a fair bet they're a kn0b.

Incredible that he seems to have got through 24 years of career behaving this way without some Stuart Pearce type reducing him to rubble.

Probably because a Stuart Pearce type wouldn’t be able to get anywhere near him.

I have a Portuguese colleague who said the coach was a national hero for not pandering to Ronaldo and many thought the same.

It's 106 miles to Portman Road, we've got a full tank of gas, half a round of Port Salut, it's dark... and we're wearing blue tinted sunglasses.

Proving that you never demanded your coach apologise to you by outlining things you instead demanded they say, with said list including comparing you to Pele and Maradona and what a wonderful servant for the country you’ve been, is quite the flex

Highlighting crass stupidity since sometime around 2010

The funny thing about sports men & women who achieve exceptional things in their career is yes they are complete doorknobs alot of the time.

Its that very trait that makes them achieve more with their talent, its that extra 1% that means they excel when others who maybe as talented never quite reach their full potential with their talent

And they always get labelled difficult to work with, and their careers tend to involve at least one major falling out.

But you know what, no one cares when they bang in goals for fun, or win lots of trophies, their ego or attitude is only an issue when the winning stops

Yet a decent manager would recognise the situation and know how to deal with it properly and know how to get the best out of him

And if the manager didnt really want to play him, why did he pick him for the squad ?
