Apropos of nothing- business speak which is particularly objectionable 19:58 - Oct 7 with 860 viewsredrickstuhaart

"piece"

"stakeholder"

The former is irritating and inane. The latter, in my experience, is often used to disguise who is pulling strings.

Poll: Spectrum or C64 / Pablo or Kuqi- your preferences?

I think "steakholder" is a very divisive term....

It excludes Vegetarians and Vegans

A few of us at my work deliberately/tongue in cheek use really cringey business speak a fair bit.

A favourite is "let's run it up the flagpole, and see who salutes it".

I do the same, current favourite is “let’s not try to boil the ocean first.”

Nobody was ever brave enough to use it but in a similar vein, "Let's drop its pants and see who wipes its bum" gained wide support.

I admire the fact you are being quite "intentional" about that.

Hopefully you are doing it "at pace" and it will "shift the needle".

"get back to work you lot"
"no i in team"
"no success without u"
Going off theme, if you want to brighten up even the dullest meeting, give a friend attending with you a challenging/stupid/naff word that they must use during the meeting, and vice versa.

One doing the rounds in my place at the moment is, "I don't have enough bandwidth for that"
Always want to reply with, "have you logged it with IT?"

"heads up"
"sit down with"
Generally over-thanking in every interaction, like the people you're dealing with are acting out of the kindness of their hearts rather than bc it's their job. So much wasted time reading unnecessarily long emails because of this. I much prefer authentic & curt, than buttoned-up, and obsequious.

One that used to really annoy me, but I don't see so much these days, is the use of 'revert' in an email when they really just mean 'reply'.

My office days are over so I don't have my finger on the pulse of the most recent business speak, unfortunately.

That said, a word which is currently trending among the general public right now is "performative"
https://books.google.com/ngram

and an expression which is making a comeback is "back in the day".

I get unreasonably annoyed by the constant use of “the football club”. It’s just “the club”, we don’t play anything else ffs.

They should definitely take the word 'football' out of our badge and the 'f' from our web address.
As you say, you are definitely unreasonably annoyed.

A colleague of mine is always quick to remind people that 'perfection shouldn't be the enemy of progress', generally when he's done a half arsed job of something and missed quite a lot of important things out.

"fanbase" is a regular on here. Every time I see it I make a note. There are a few others that aren't necessarily jargon, but they do crop up.
I particularly dislike:
"gotten"
"as per"
"hence why"
"No?"
"alternate" (when alternative is meant)

But who cares? (Other than me!)

Someone in my office makes business lingo bingo sheets.

A fair few of the ones in here have made it onto sheets before.

Others include:

"Let's put our foot on the ball"
"All the steps in the dance"
"Make sure we're standing on 10ft of concrete"
"Trying to boil the ocean"
"That's not quite in the scope of this conversation"
