….as it’s not their fault they are in this mess. But they seem to be revelling in it, judging by the chants in the end next to the away end. ‘We’re going down with millions in the bank’, ‘gettin mauled by the cheaters’ etc. i have lost any respect I had for them. I now hope they get hit hard.

What do you expect? Banners saying we are sorry? Especially when the likes of Chelsea over the years.
a little humility from them wouldnt cost a penny. yes they were passengers as all supporters really are, but so what, ultimately its how you as a club support base react to circumstances beyond your control, that defines how people respect your clubs fans or feel youre just a bunch of arrogant glory hunting bell ends who probably were supporting Chelsea a while back, hence why they have the same attitudes.

We are football fans not self flagellating Opus Dei. The bananas are fun and a reminder of City support in leaner times and a message of defiance. You think we are cheats, but City fans think our club has been targeted by rival clubs.
The Etihad sponsorship was reviewed by the Court of Arbitration for Sport and they found that there was no doubt that Etihad Airways met the sponsorship arrangement in full. I forget the exact wording but no doubt was in there.
The PL did not even call for evidence from Etihad Airways after a 2 year long investigation. It is a farce. How do you accuse an company of fraud without calling on them to give evidence and giving them an opportunity to defend themselves. There are reports that Etihad will sue the Premier League, and I hope they do.
Anyway the main reason I came on here was to post a match day vlog in case you were interested but I found this topic. It is not my vlog but it is one I follow. I think it is unfair. I was near your end, and there was no hostility towards your fans, so what is this about? We are just supporting our team.
I sat next to a very decent City fan on the train back to Kent last night.
I didn't realise he was one until he watched the highlights and tutted at Maeda getting the better of their defender
He has supported the team for over 50 years and goes to most home and away games from deepest Sussex.
We agreed on two things.
1. It is not possible to judge City's guilt or innocence until the appeal and other proceedings have completed.
2. Whatever the end result, it is not the fault of the fans, players or managers.
And apropos of nothing, Lucy Powell, the Education Secretary, crossed my path yesterday leaving the ground with a City scarf around her neck.
She is apparently a season ticket holder, and given she was born in Moss Side, it is probably difficult to regard her as plastic fan.

When it comes to City having a load of glory hunters that used to support Chelsea, maybe on Twitter!
They obviously have picked up global support etc over this period but in England they’ve always been a top fanbase, one of the best away supports in the country. I always thought they were alright tbf. Maybe it was because growing up with United wining everything and seeing Man U shirts all over the place. Had some great trips to Maine Road back in the day, as well.
What their fans are doing now is a mix of banter, defiance and embracing being the bad guys, not sure what else you’d expect.

It is possible to assess it now. They are guilty.
Regardless of who;s fault it is, they knew it was iffy, knew where the money was coming from, and enjoyed it all whilst depriving other clubs. They should accept it in good grace if they have any integrity at all.
I can’t see that a bit of chanting, often quite amusing, is of any enormous significance outside the 90 minutes. Plenty to be very critical of City for, this isn’t one of those things.

""1. It is not possible to judge City's guilt or innocence until the appeal and other proceedings have completed."
They’ve been found guilty - the onus is now on them to prove their innocence through the appeals process.
"2. Whatever the end result, it is not the fault of the fans, players or managers."
I haven't done a deep dive into the charges, but as an example, Roberto Mancini was being paid a £1.45m salary as manager of Man City, and receiving at least the same amount again for 4 days "consultancy work" for a club in Dubai.
So there's at least one manager who was either complicit or lied to by the club owners that payments like that were above board. I'm sure if I nosed through all the charges there would be other managers and players who benefited too.
As for their success, if was built on cheating, that needs to be addressed. Considering the wealth of the club and value of the squad, a points deduction which briefly relegates them to the Championship will be an insignificant blip in their history now. The charges relate to 9 seasons of football; I personally think the better punishment would be to apply the points deductions to the charges that relate from each individual season, and adjust the table for each year accordingly - if they've cheated other teams out of titles, they should be awarded to the rightful winners.

As a lawyer, and to quote a legal maxim translated from the Latin, "It's not over until the fat lady sings."
As regards the details of what went on with regards to Mancini or any other manager, I have absolutely no idea and will reserve judgment until the case is finally over.

In a sense, it is over. Though I hear what you say.
