People who were rumoured to be Town fans who were not 10:11 - Oct 30 with 2607 viewsITFC_Essex

I am pretty sure Patrick Stewart was one of those (he supported Huddersfield), Dani Filth (massive QPR fan), Will Ferrell (Chelsea, although knew so little about it he mixed us up with them once), any more that turned out to be nonsense?

Players who people claimed supported Ipswich, but didn't were Jason Dozzell (Spurs and his brother is a ST holder there), James Scowcroft (Manchester United), Richard Wright (Arsenal), Scott Loach (Manchester United supporter), and more recently Luke Woolfenden (Manchester United).

Update from below (verified)

Patrick Stewart: Huddersfield Town
Will Ferrell: Chelsea
Dani Filth: QPR
Ed Sheeran: Bradford City
Fabio Wardley: Manchester United
John Motson: Barnet/Chelsea
John Peel: Liverpool
Marcus Evans: Chelsea

Wasn’t Motty an admirer rather than a fan as often was suggested ?

Seem to recall reading an article somewhere once that Motty was in Ipswich to commentate, but had brought his young son with him & before the game, Bobby Robson sorted his boy out with hat, scarf, gloves etc & since that day, Motty's son has been an Ipswich fan

Motty was a guest at a summer football camp I took part in as a nipper. We had a Q&A session with him and one of the boys asked which team he supported. He was fairly non committal to begin with, big speech about admiring the game as a whole, needing to appear unbiased etc, but at the end, he said if pushed to name a single team, it would be Tottenham.

The bass player in the band Editors is a Town fan.

Tom Chaplin of Keane and Chrlie Simpson of Busted also.

Not sure about the bass player but Ed, the Editors drummer is definitely a Town fan.

Chester Bennington is an unlikely fan and I thought it was b0llocks.... but, on further investigation, it seems like he was. The club even gave him a tribute on his death.

Wasnt his dad in the US army and was posted to one of their airbases around Ipswich? Think he went to a few Town games when here.

John Peel, was he not a regular attender of Town games but was actually a Liverpool fan? Or did I remember that wrong?

John Peel’s wife was/is the ITFC fan. Living in the area he attended games and I’m guessing we became his ‘second’ team.

Not a lot different to Mrs C really. Her family all hail from Leicester, attended cup finals, games etc. she has attended many games, formerly a ST holder follows us but I’ve always suspected split loyalties tbh - if you can have such a thing.

I stood next to the chap from Keane whilst queuing to get out of the ground at Millwall years ago, so not sure about that.

100% true, a security guard who was a Town fan knew his dad and told him he was a town fan, he gave him town shirts I believe

Unlikely as it may seemed, that was the connection

*I note someone further up mentioned the security guard was an ex-copper.
