Very late to the party here, but having not seen a replay of Enciso's thunderbastard since it went in, I thought it was an amazing strike following a slightly fortunate ricochet through to him from the attempted challenge. Didn't realise until this angle that the creation was completely his own work too. What a player we've got.
It was glorious. When was the last time a player beat four opponents with a single piece of skill? Most outrageous moment since Didzy gave two players concussion with one cruyff turn?
- Maeda is everywhere. I've been a little underwhelmed with him in an attacking sense this season, but I think I'm allowing my perception to be skewed by his goal/assist output. What he offers to the team overall is unbelievable. At one point I saw Issa Diop push forward and worried when the ball got turned over, only to see Maeda had quietly dropped in at centre-back to cover. He just runs and runs. Apparently he covered almost 7km in the first half alone. He'll be crucial.
- Ouattara just oozes quality. Absolutely everything he does just looks so composed. First touch is perfect, passing is crisp, great in one-v-ones, quick, gets up and down. Honestly think he's stuck a £50m price tag on his head already, especially if we stay up. What a player! Another one in that "oozing quality" bracket is Lukic. Never gives the ball away, never seems under pressure.
- Enciso tries to do too much. Frustrating because he's clearly so good. Every time he gets the ball he's looking to produce a moment, and I just don't think it's always possible or necessary. He's either looking to take someone on, try a little flick, put a cross in or have a shot. Quite a few times I saw the better option being just to play one more pass and retain possession in a threatening area. He's good, and we need him to produce moments, but sometimes the decision making could be a little better at times. I'm sure Gary O'Neil is working on it. He's still young.
AND.... an bonus point on Fulham.
- The stats may have looked good in the first half, but my word the don't half just pass it side-to-side. No wonder they had so much possession. Sideways, backwards, sideways, backwards. Apart from a few individual moments from Josh King and Oscar Bobb, I don't really know what they have to offer. I think they're sleep walking towards relegation alongside the other certainties, Man City and Coventry. Suits us!
With a player like Enciso you’ve just got to let him do his thing, sometimes it’ll pay off, sometimes it won’t.
He just needs to be enjoyed whilst we are lucky enough to have him.
And what people often miss with players like this is the chaos they produce in the opposition. Whether it be teams doubling up or, when he's on a mazy run, the space he creates for others is significant.
Ade Akinbiyi couldn't hit a cows arse with a banjo...
As well as two goals and two assists, according to Fotmob he is fifth equal in the Premier League for big chances created, with 5.
And it's not just his attacking play which is top notch, out of possession his putting under pressure opposition defenders and goalkeepers is great too.

He's excellent at triggering the press.
It's not full on 100% of the time. He actually brings emersonn, fatawu etc back sometimes, to wait until our centre mids are set, or the opposition have committed to one full back or the other before we spring.

Its very intelligent play. Great to watch.
He's the perfect modern player in that respect. All the ball technique in the way combined with mammoth pressing energy and talent.
Remember watching him in the world cup this summer against France and seeing how he pressed them, and scoring on the counter and thinking, wow, what a player.

Maybe O'Neil is already working his magic because at Hull he often didn't try to do too much but instead created a bit of space and passed to another player.

Those two players were Budgies, so they count for double, so it's on a par

One of the most gifted players we ever had. The "ball hogging" can be an issue when others are in space, but he seems a little more tempered this time than he was before.
Glorious. Bloke behind me was in full, he never passes, rant mode as he wriggled his way through
I mean, he does sometimes pass, and his decision making appears significantly better than during his loan spell with us.
But one has to accept, with a player like Enciso, that he will not be a solid 6.5/7 out of 10 every single game. Even within a game, there will be moments of error, of poor decisions, of apparent 'selfishness'. And then he pops up and does something like THAT and all is forgiven. Or rather, he reminds us suddenly that he doesn't need our forgiveness.
It's pretty inherent in a flair player, it seems to me, albeit it's better than it was 'back in the day', when flair players didn't have to have the discipline, the work ethic and all of the sports science stuff that the modern professional does.
I remember many years ago one of the football magazines tried to argue that Nigel Winterburn should be (league) player of the year because he was a solid 7 every single game. Fine. But we all need a 9 every now and then.
An Enciso who takes no risks ain't an Enciso at all.
