Everton’s defence are excellent but Newcastle just didn’t have a clue about how to threaten them, and there was something very wrong with their attacking shape. Whereas Dewsbury Hall had Everton working some lovely patterns. Barry is an enigma, I wonder with a better striker they’d be a lot higher. Still he did score again.

On paper their starting front four looks better than ours: Elanga——-Willock———-Barnes ——————-Osula Well the wide players for sure. Enciso probably would start over Willock. But we seem to have more energy and verve at the moment. [Post edited 2 Nov 22:58]

The league is generally better when they're doing well, or at least are entertaining to watch. St James looked and sounded as flat as I can remember for a while tonight.

I feel bad for their fans but am heartily chuckling that the plan to use them for sports washing that their owns have is falling on its arse.

I will never forgive them, not for sacking Bobby Robson for being so hopeless that they finished only 5th in the Premier League & reached the UEFA Cup semi final, but for then having the cheek to erect a statue of him 7 years later.

| Newcastle don’t look right on 09:03 - Nov 3 with 420 views | itfcsuth | Literally took the heart of their midfield, arguably the best pairing in the league out in one window, in addition their star front man went to Barca, and still haven't replaced Isak from the window before. Being honest their recruitment has been shocking; Woltemade, Steur, Toure, Ferandez-Pardo, Nico Gonzalez, Hornicek and Bamba - a lot of potential, not a lot of here and now PL knowledge. | | | |
| Newcastle don’t look right on 09:09 - Nov 3 with 391 views | IPSWICHFANITFC | They lost 4 key players in the summer. Gordon, Bruno G, Tonali and Trippier were all regulars/big characters that added real quality to that Newcastle side. You could also add in Isak, although that was 12 months prior, but Wissa & Woltemade were nowhere near it last season. I think right now they are exactly where I would have them finishing in the league. Elanga, Willock and Barnes are all hot and cold players that make up 3 of the front 4. They have a brief purple patch and then go missing for large periods. They are not good enough to fight for a place in the top 10. A bit like the Championship season when we got relegated as we sold our best players in the summer, picking up and going again with the same expectations is a really tough ask. I don't think Unai Emery gets enough credit at Villa for seemingly doing that season after season. | |

Playing with two wingers who you'd want on the counter but instead they seem to having them come inside to play as additional 10's and then letting the full backs press on, with them also coming inside sometimes. They don't ever really look like scoring to be honest.

Deserve to be in trouble. No doubt the manager will be booted out, but it is hardly his fault. No surprise Howe got out the door quickly.
| Newcastle don’t look right on 10:54 - Nov 3 with 189 views | gsoly | A club who could easily get caught out with how competitive the PL is this season. Also an example of what happens when you have one poor, big spending window. Their attempts to replace Isak last summer were disastrous. | | | |

One of my memories of our last Premier League campaign was how strong Guimaraes and Tonali were at Portman Road (and Isak) in that 4-0 loss. We had Morsy and Cajuste in the middle and we got blown away in midfield. Murphy was also very good that day. But looked lost replacing Elanga on 76mins last night.

Got blown away everywhere that game, never mind just midfield. Super impressive. In the next four games they also beat Man U, Villa, Arsenal and Spurs. A purple patch, typical of our luck to play them during it.
