If you really do not know-33,45 and 78 were/are the speeds of vinyl records. But you know that, don't you?

The OP quoted 33,45 and 78 and asked "is this a record?" Catch referred to getting needle(record/needle....) You asked why Catch said that. I have tried to explain why-twice now.

It's about old fashioned style vinyl records. Formerly king but now only popular with people that insist they sound better, which if that was true, means they wouldn't have been superseded by Cd's and digital platforms.

Whilst they may have sounded better when they were brand new and unscathed and with a fresh stylus, most people would take them out of the sleeve, plonk them on the carpet, let them gather dust, play them with a worn stylus, occasionally jolt the arm and generally treat them like crap. Meaning that all you get is a lot of hiss and pop and the record jumping or getting stuck. Unless you treat them like pressure treasure they soon sound like crp.

Digital music is king because it's digital, not because it sounds better. Vinyl is better for sound quality. Digital is more convenient, accessible, functional, sharable, mobile, affordable, etc. Therefore digital is king.

True, but you're taking about condition, not sound quality.

I don't have a clue what FLAC means either and I often have to google to try to work out what Rommy is talking about.

N to the T is just a different way of saying NT (no text) It took until about the 10th comment of this thread for me to understand this. It's fashioned CD type players ain't it?

something lossless audio compression I think. Basically doesn't compress the data like an mp3 does so you get a much bigger file. The idea that you don't lose any "sound Information" I guess.

Wow, never seen one of those before. The best I had was an 8 track player, the sound was brilliant compared to the battery run portable tape player I used to place in the console. I used to record the top 20 on radio 1 by placing the recorder as close to the radio as i could and played it all week! I was so cool....... [Post edited 4 Dec 2017 19:04]
