Second half of the season syndrome which has always been a symptom under MM seems to have kicked in yet again.

Do our players burn out in the first half of the season? Does our style become stale and predictable to other managers?

Our strikers certainly look knackered and you do have to question whether our high pressing and closing down work rate is sustainable over the course of a season.

Squad doesn’t rotate either, even when there are options - as pitch gets heavier (and PR is shockingly bad at the mo) then it gets harder.

Bearing in mind at one point we were the top scorers in the league, we can’t be anywhere close now and it’s clear how much the goals have dried up

We were talking about the pitch yesterday. It looks ill.

Another sign of a general lack of love around the place. Grrrrrr.

Yep, 1 win and only 4 goals in the last 8 games.

Need to pick things up pretty soon.

The intensity MM has them playing at isn’t sustainable for 46 games, if we managed to retain the ball better/properly we’d use half the energy!

We’ll be good again... one day

The pitch has been a problem every January and February for a number of years now.

It requires a lot of memory spent on it which obviously won’t happen until we ever reach the Premier League (or a change of ownership).

Just one win in last eight games. Very poor stuff.

We've been Bad In January since well before McCarthy came. 2008-09 (under Magilton) was the last time we got a decent points haul from that month.

Good Lord! Whatever is it?

Earlier on in the season people shouted down other posters who said we were conveting a large majority of our chances and it couldn't be kept up.

Unfortunately this can't be kept up over the whole season. Be interesting to see our conversion rate of chances to goals was for say the first 12 or so games and then last.12 games.

Didn't we score like 4 out of 5 or 6 chances vs Notts forest?

Were they? I think everyone was amazed at our conversation rate and hoped it'd continue as much as possible.

Can't remember anyone saying it was likely to, or that we wouldn't need to do develop as the season goes on.

People seem to be getting on Waghorn's back now though, despite the fact he had an insane goals per minute ratio of about 1 every 62mins or something. Anyone who thought he'd get 50 goals or more this season probably wasn't being serious.

They were shouted down earlier in the season because they were killjoys with agendas from last year, desperate for something to moan about after wins, and needed putting in their place.

We clearly have problems at the moment, not helped by the injuries which has affected the ability to rotate the squad and which has been mostly concentrated on our most creative players. Have to keep battling through, I’m afraid, and we really need to get on the front foot in the next two games. Neither Sunderland or Burton are in any kind of form whatsoever.

Waghorn is our best hope of goals , but he is now having to play deeper and deeper , presumably under instructions from MM . So our goalscoring threat is seriously weaker .

Too bad they were right.
