So how many more players do we need? 13:03 - Jul 29 with 2202 views

I’d argue three on top of what we have so, if we sell anyone, we’ll need to replace them too. But I think we do need a right back, as I’m not sure if Spence is quite there and Emmanuel’s learning his trade, a centre back (would prefer two but don’t think Hurst will use up funds as Spence and Knudsen can cover if needed) and a right winger.

If we do that we have two players for every position, as Spence can cover the middle though we could look to let him go and bring in a specialist centre back instead. I sense Garner’s time may be coming to an end here too, hence the links to Kayden Jackson. Waghorn leaving will either give him a stay of execution or see Hurst chasing two additional strikers.

As it is I think we need 2 defenders, a CB and a versatile body like Spence or Jonas. I was on the fence about another midfielder but having seen yesterday, and with Skuse coming back, we are well stocked there with Hurst playing 3.

I admire Downes and Nydam as much as anyone but I am afraid they are not Wark and Gates.

Five or six, but I'm hopeful Huws and Ademeyi will eventually be fit to play, so 3 or 4 to come into the club.

As I said in a post yesterday, this high-pressing, 100-mile-an-hour gameplay is going to cost us at some point, injury and tiredness-wise, so we will need the extra bodies then - hopefully for a sustained promotion push...!

Youth club + Skuse + 3 sicknotes in CM = I'd definitely sign one there.

Waghorn will be going - need a new forward then.

Sears awful wide left yesterday, need a new wide left.

CB x 2 still needed.

Are Emmanuel / Spence REALLY a good enough combo at RB for a season at this level!?

LB MAY need work if Knudsen goes yet.

Quite a lot of work to do IMO.

Well either way then - appears our wide options at the minute are -

* Edwards. Looked a combination of excellent / poor yesterday. Skipped past guy for fun at times, clumsy with ball at feet yesterday. Seems a good addition.

* Sears. Sorry not good enough in system.

* Ward. Somehow behind Sears in pick yesterday!? Must be quite annoyed. Could he push on this season or does Hurst already show signs of perhaps not fancying him!?

* Free off Crawley, Roberts. Not seen a lot of him, can he make the step up!?

Not convinced by us out wide in this system - and I'm sure Hurst would like this area upgrading before Blackburn if possible.

IF we could upgrade here, and the defence, I'd feel quite optomistic about us doing things.

Think Harrison will play ahead of Garner and is a better player.

I totally disagree we'll get relegated using the youngsters, i have total faith in our youngsters to avoid relegation. Also on the flip side we could spend lots of money and get relegated

I think Dozzell is in that class.

We do need at least one central defensive player. Another striker would be good and if Waghorn and/or Garner leave would be necessary and 2 or 3 would then be good.

We are only weaker than last season in central defence in my opinion. Playing the youngsters more would not get us relegated. Boosting the squad with 2 or 3 quality Premier loanees would see us stronger than last season.

4 or 5 still to come in I’d say without any departures. 2 x CB, 1LW, 1 Striker and maybe 2 if/when Waghorn departs. Hurst also clearly sees the LB spot as a weaker area with the recent bid for Townsend and I have a hunch another Midfielder may come in due to the fact as good as the triplets are how reliable realistically are Tom Adeyemi and Huws actually going to be with regards minutes in the pitch. So as illuded above a lot to do this week.

After seeing Downes, Nydam, Dozzell and Wolfenden yesterday, not to mention the news that Hurst intends to use Chalobah in midfield, I’m not so convinced we need another central midfielder or two more defenders. Suppose Hurst will have to weigh up what’s more beneficial for the youngsters...a loan for regular football or coming from bench through season for us?

Signing wise...Tilt...Jackson...KaiKai (loan) or another winger and I think we’re looking pretty good.

4. That’s based on Waghorn leaving. Possibly five if PH isn’t happy with his wing options.

1 x striker (if Waghorn goes)
1 x winger (maybe)
