My main gripe with the pubs reopening. 22:44 - Jun 23 with 3686 views | BlueBadger | There'll probably be ingenious distancing measures no doubt, what I REALLY object to is the almost 100% gurananteed certainty that the first fortnight of Pubs Open will see pubs infested with Amateur Drinkers who usually only turn out at Christmas and New Year. You won't be able to enjoy a quiet pint for pricks buying a Something and Red Bull will you?

My main gripe with the pubs reopening. on 22:49 - Jun 23 with 2832 views | jeera | Fair point, well made. I hadn't considered that. To be honest though, I have considered I'll have to queue for a pint, go outside to drink it, which unfortunately won't take long. I suppose I could buy 2 at a time but they're gonna get warm pretty quick. Anyway, finish drink, go for a wee, then have to walk around the to the front of the building and join the queue for the next beer (or 2). I don't think I can be bothered with it tbh.

It's a funny one. Years ago I'd pop over to the continent and be enthralled that I could grab some food plus a beer at any time I liked. We'd roll up at half six in the morning and go straight to the nearest place that sold breakfast and beer. I'd always have a coffee first - I'm not an animal Yet I've no interest in going out at 7am for scrambled eggs and a few pints here.

Correction - Old ladies go in there during the morning for wild ass, the dirty búggers. Have you seen old the old guys tanked up and twerking by 11am? That’s what they’re there for. It's the old person equivalent of a nightclub dance floor at 3am. In fact, I hear Facters does his best lady business before noon, regularly swooping down on a table of divorcees, a bottle of £5.99 Pinot Grigio in each hand.

It's CIVILISED abroad though isn't it. Sure, they'll kill a brandy over pastries and coffee in Portugal, but its not the means to the end. The breakfast isn't the fuel for the boozing, it's all about the socialising.

Amazing isn’t it? I used to love going into a bar in Holland at 9 in the morning for a couple of Heineken’s as a livener. now I can’t think of anything worse! May be something to do with the fact that I have aged 25 years since then!

Well, I dunno about all that. But if you're trying to include me in that you're giving me far too much credit. I was happy I could play pool and get pissed whilst waiting for the other establishments to open.

Our breakfasts in those days were to try and remember what we had done the night before and getting our stomachs back in order for what we may do later in the day. I’m glad I am older now!!

Quite. I probably should have pointed out that I was much younger then. Not to mention, even if I was willing, I simply couldn't hack it now. I'd want my bed after a full breakfast and a couple of Stellas.

Not in a big hurry. It will be great to get back to normal with a few friends but I haven't lacked alcohol during isolation. [Post edited 23 Jun 2020 23:32]

My main gripe with the pubs reopening. on 07:19 - Jun 24 with 2321 views | bluelagos | As a countryside dweller, my observations pre covid, most country pubs are dead during the day (except weekends) many not even opening at all such is the lack of trade. Am wondering if that will continue or whether the built up demand from the lack of a pub will see people getting down to support their locals? And or their outdoor space will attract visitors from towns? Expect evenings/weekends to be much busier (along with higher risk) so will be looking more for the daytime pint/bite to eat myself. Reckon the pubs are going to have to make a fair bit over 3 months cos come the winter the outdoor drinking will be for the hardy souls only!

I've just read an article about the Nutshell on BBC news. The owner is saying they will only be able to open, if the council let them use the pavement outside.
